Lenovo Y500 — battery

I bought lenovo Y500 16 months back.Now my battery doesn't get charged while my laptop is on. n it gives just 10 min back up. i have seen many other compny laptops they have good performens after 3-4 year, but lenovo have not like that.

My dvd drive is also not working whenever i insert a cd it shows a blank page and no contents of the cd get open...
plz tel wht i have to do

Dear sir,
I bought lenovo Y500 13 months back.Now my battery doesn't get charged while my laptop is on.
But as soon as I shut down the laptop battery starts getting charged.Please tell as to the nature of the problem- software or hardware and what I should do now.

I bought my pc 1 yr ago and its battery discharges only 15-20 mins after getting fully charged...
