[Resolved]  Cinemax — Phone Stolen from Cinemax premises due to negligence and inefficiency of staff.

I have lost my expensive mobile phone at Cinemax premises. The staff was rude and not cooperative. I had booked two tickets for the 11:00am show for Dil toh Bachcha Hai ji at Cinemax Vashi on the 30th of January, 2011.

The incident happened on the third floor box office counter. I reached the venue 10 minutes late and while getting my tickets from the counter (booked through internet banking) kept my phone on the counter. After I received the tickets I went inside the screening room for a security check and headed straight inside the theater. As soon as I sat on my seat, I realized I did not have my phone and I immediately went to the box office counter to get my phone. It had not been more than 5 minutes. The staff told me that they had not seen anything. I then asked the staff to call the floor manager. The manager Debamita told me that they would find out the same and asked me to register the details in their lost and found book. She told me she would get the CCTV footage and within 3 hours let me know the result.

We went inside the theater to wait. At the time of the interval, I went back to her to ask her of the progress, she told me they had seen 6-7 phones and were not able to identify and so she had sent a team to check the seat numbers of people who entered after me. When I asked her to show me the CCTV footage so I could identify my phone she told me that they did not have a CCTV footage. I asked her to connect me to her security manager in the corporate office. Mr. Raju is the security head and told me that due to a link failure they did not have the recording. I asked him if they did not have the footage why didnt they inform me about it. He then told me that he himself was only informed about 15 minutes earlier.

When I asked debamita why she hadn't informed the manager, she told me that they were doing their procedures and would get back to me in some time. I waited there for more than two hours and I was not given a definitive answer.

he lady was rude and exceptionally inefficient. Due to the negligence and the inefficiency of the staff at cinemax I have failed to recover my phone. There might also be a possibility that the staff has stolen the phone. I would like to see the footage of the CCTV recording which was denied to me.


The phone that was stolen from the cinemax premises was a Somy Ericson Satio mobile, the cost of which was 35,500. Apart from that I could not watch the movie for which I had bought tickets. It is highly irresponsible of a company like Cinemax to have such lack security procedures. What is the point of having a CCTV camera when the footage cannot be recorded.
