I got two messages on 15th of January saying that my credit card charged 500 BRL and 50 BRL(Braizilian Real) around 15000 INR and after that i got a message as your card is temporarily blocked please call our customer center, I called to Citi bank at same time they blocked my card card and told me to send a CDF form so they can provide me a temporary credit till the investigation , they also told me that it was a physical swipe in Brazil however at that time i was in India and my card was with me and also my card never stolen as well .
Now they told me that they are investigating this issue however i don't know what they will do now .
Keeping my fingers crossed...Just Hope CITI bank take action in time and nab the fraudsters.

If not resolved, this would affect me at least financially and mentally for months to come..

Citi Bank Card — Fraud of Citibank

Same case with me as well.
As usual normal day started on Today[protected], I just checked SMS from CITI bank in morning 10AM saying that your transaction is declined due to invalid expiry date. I socked by seeing the SMS as the card is with me and I have not used my CreditCard, then how the transaction get failed.

Then came to office and shared with my office friends and they also told me be aware as there are lots of fraud cases with CITI bank credit cards. And I called to CITI customer care lady who confirmed the transaction happened but luckily that is declined to due to invalid information. She immediately blocked my Card as I asked her.

I was thinking I was in dark or not aware suck kind of things also can happen.

Hello Sir,

Card number - [protected]

A credit card fraud (International transaction) was made on my card and the same day i reported the fraud to citibank. While wrapping up the call, Even after asking about any further assistance required from my side they didn't tell me about a important form to be sent from my end. So I got misinformed and didnot anticipate any calls from your end.

3 months later I got the charge on my email, when i contacted them they told me that the charge has to be paid by me and they tried contacted me but I was not reachable. But as I had been confirmed that no further help is required from my end, I dont find myself accusable for not being able to keep in touch.

They are accepting that it was not communicated when I had asked upfront but they are saying we cant do anything about it since the 60 days period has passed. They are asking me to take it to the cyber cell for further investigation.

I have been a loyal customer for many years to citi and this is the first instance I am in such a situation and whole incident has been blamed on me even though lack of communication from your end was the culprit in the first place.Since the bank was not able to communicate the information when seeked and also misinforming that no further assistance is required.I find myself expecting a fair justice in this regard from you end before I go to any other medium.

I am happy with my relation with citi but I expect professionalism from a bank of such high repute and proper communication in future events

I have attached the dispute form.
Please help me with the issue.

Thank You

Sub: Regarding the Minimum balance in case of savings account.

Citibank has recently changed the minimum balance requirement for savings bank account as 1,00,000. Is there any guideline for the banks in changing to such huge muminum balances (including the foreign banks)

Is this chainge, with the approval of from the RBI. (huge minimum balance of 1,00,000)

Can this be minumum balance justifiable to any banks (including the foreign banks) operating in india with indian customer.

    My openion is that
    - If the max limit for this is not laid down, the bank can go to any extent of changing this to any limit (may be 5 lakhs tomorrow)
    - Alternatively If such huge max limit is fixed by the banks, a rule/guideline should be laid that such banks who charge more than maximu prescribed limit should also ensure that the customer is getting rate of interest @ Fixed deposit rates for that minimum banlance maitained beign fair to the customers.
    - This should be taken up with the RBI to provide some guidelines to all indian and foreign banks to make the maximum limit appropriate to the indian customers.

Thanks in advance for taking appropriate actions in this regard and respond to my complaint.

    Thanks and Regards,

    Hi Amarnath,

I totally agree with you and thank for sharing your view even i am holding account with Citi bank and now i am planning to close this account and open account with some other bank.

and do you know there is any guideline/rule issue by RBI on this so that we can take our concern to correct authority on this issue and help other person who are also affected

    Hi All,

The same grievance from my part as well. This seems highly unreasonable and something should be done immediately to deter such outrageous actions. Can somebody provide some insight in to this issue? If not, I would close my citi bank account once and for all. Why the hell on earth should you entrust them with your hard earned money and then pay the price, at their discretion. This sounds just ridiculous!

    Thanks
    Varun Mohan
    hi Amarnath, Deepak,

Thanks for posting this issue. This sudden conversion of account to new citibank account will lead many costumers to close their accounts or convert it to Basic savings bank account (that required no minimum balance).

    Regards,
    Vivek
i am also in the same boat, my account is 12 years old. First they changed minimum balance to 25, 000 and now to 1 lakh. So i would be going ahead and closing the same. i feel cheated by Citibank as this is just a way to drive customers away.
I too affected by this rude behaviour of this foreign bank. I had sent request for closing the account, but still it is NOT closed. I had sent all the required things (request letter, broken ATM card, remaining check leaves)
I have approach the Banking Ombudsman, I shall provide u the complaint no. as soon as possible.
I give them less than 0 Stars ...Same has happned to my account after being and account holder for over 8 years, These guys are such losers.. I have already registered to close my account and will never recommend anyone to Citibank ever again.. They have forgotten that an Average Indian Salary is not 1 Lac a month..
Its a shock ..i have savings account Credit card account and Number of FDS with Citibank...Minimum balance of Lakh is ridiculous and method of Citi to tell customers go away...its a bad decision...now i cant trust Citi anymore will wait for few months for FDS to mature and immediatly close Account even Credit card account...
This is unacceptable and clearly a fraud in my opinion. You can not change any account restrictions without proper authorization from the user.
I have also written to the banking ombudsman 2 weeks ago but haven't heard from them yet.
I am planning to move to the consumer court if they put any charges on my account and I would recommend the same to all others.
Let us explore the option of online petition and dragging Citi bank to the consumer courts, they will learn only then.
I am also facing the same issue. I am unable to even close the account as there is a taxbsaver fd of 10000 linked to the account. Any suggestions?
Same complaint from my side, worst move by citibank, they don't know the customer relationship.
Citi bank should understand its customer . This is not justified. Converting to Basic citi bank account
how common man can maintain 1 lack rupee average for month.it's better not tot recomend this bank any more

From last 3 months I am getting calls from citibank to buy their products like credit card, personal loan etc. I have told them multiple times not to call me but they do not stop. I am really tired of it and dont know how to stop it.
Sometimes, they even call me multiple times in a day, when I am in meetings disturbing me. Also, they call me when I am on roaming, which costs me money. The number from which they call me are like:[protected] etc.

As per my discussion with Citibank and letter, my account status
should show as "Null" in the Credit Bureau so that I do not face any
issue in future loan or credit applications. Based on that I paid
double amount of my credit, i.e. my credit was for Rs9,000 which

I am posting this complaint here for the people to really understand the nature of Citi Bank. This was the email that i mailed them after i had that bitter experience with them.

Respected whom so ever it may concern,

SUB:( My Respect for Citi Bank got trashed in a matter of few hours at your Bank MG Road Bangalore. Your customer service executives don’t have manners. We account holders at your bank are your customers not beggars to treat us in such indecent manner).

My Account Information with Your Citi Bank.

Today the 27th of November 2012 I had a reason to approach your office at Bangalore MG Road. I needed a cheque book with my name on it so that I can use it for getting the Provident Fund from the old company I worked for. Your customer service representative were so rude to me as if I and the other customers were there to beg.
I just wanted you people to understand that your bank is running a business because of we customers and I expect a warm behavior from you guys. The lady who assisted me asked me to get up from my seat and move aside as if I was illiterate(I would like to tell you that I may be more qualified or less qualified than her, I didn’t put up any bad character there, I hold a B.Tech Degree in applied electronics and instrumentation Engineering).
My mannerism didn’t let me shout or howl at her. I just did as was told. Then a thought dropped in my mind. I was a good customer of your Bank and used to tell my friends that Citi Bank had healthy banking relations. But this incident and the way she talked made me think. I never knew I was banking with indecent people. Initially I told her I needed a cheque book but then I ended up closing my account with Citi Bank on sport decision that I could not digest the behavior of your representatives. I don’t know if you train them to be that way or they are behaving in this unprofessional manner because they don’t fear anyone. I made it a point to write to you just to make you aware that I was not at all happy with banking with you and I will never come back to you.
Everything in the world has got ethics. Unethical things not accepted.
A copy of this mail that I am writing to you will be published at consumer Court forum over the internet just to make the people of India aware that the so called Citi Bank is not so decent in its ways as it seems.
If I would have not told so much I would not get any sleep tonight.
There is an attachment of my closure request form.
Citi Bank when you go rich. You may feel rich and other people may seem to you as irrelevant but it is that customers of yours that made you rich. So never forget that footstep as you go higher. Ashamed that you have an office at our great Mahatma Gandhi Road Bangalore. If our Mahatma Gandhi would have been alive he would have chuck your bank to Uganda. Don’t worry, my curse is there on your bank. You guys billed me penalty 4 to 5 times .I paid them each time and even today thinking that you are not running a charitable trust, so I am liable to pay the amount demanded by you. But I never expected bad behavior.

                  Signing off.

I wonder if my complain will be addressed and resolved by the consumer forum ?
I am getting the statements by the CITI bank wherein the disputed interest amount which is unpaid has been increased despite the fact that the said card has been cancelled by me and the bank has been intimated but I don't understand when this case will be tackled and resolved ?

CITI BANK AUTO CARD — NON RECEIPT OF BILL & LATE PAYMENT CHARGES

                        Dear Sir/Madam,
This is to inform you that in the month of june I didn't received any bill and as soon as your representative visited me I paid a sum of Rs. 750/= towards the minimum payment, and despite this a late payment charge has been charged in the next bill and also the minimum payment I have done has not been reduced in the bill. This delay has been solely due to non- receipt of the bill and any penalty charged on account of that is wrong. Therefore, it's ardently requested to waive the same in the next bill. You can see my record and you will find that almost I have paid in time.Such kind of inordinate behave I never expect..., and if you are not going to waive it, please send someone your representative to close my credit card account.

                        Best Regards,

I am using city bank credit card since last 1 year. And lately I came across an issue where I was charged late fees of Rs.600. I get my money on 7th of every month and with that money I planned to pay my credit card bill on 8th of every month. Now when I was applying for the card the executive told me that the due date would be 8th and I would not face any issue. But few months before when i was charged late fees I called up the customer care and asked them abt the same, they agreed to adjust the amount. And i didn't checked inn if they really did adjusted the amount. this happened 2 to 3 times and i told them my problem. Now when the same thing happened I called the CSD team on 8th Oct 2012. They said that they will not deduct or adjust the late fees, and the due dates vary every month. And while talking to that executive he asked me to change the billing cycle and so that i would not face any problem...

My issue is if there was such option where a person could select or adjust his billing cycle, then why didn't they communicated this to me before. Why didn't they told me to opt for this option when i called the CSD team. If they would had asked me to change the date that time only, then i would had not faced this problem. And now when some manager called me to give an explanation he said that "The customers them-self should ask the customer care executive and ask for the change of plan or the due dates". [censored]r if the customer doesn't know about the plan then how the hell is he gonna ask for the plan. It should be you who from your side should communicate about this to the customers. And if you yourself as an Customer Care Executive don't have any idea about the policies and stuffs, I guess "Just quit the job and go sell peanuts at Band Stand" cause that doesn't require any brains and that the perfect place for pplz like you to work at.. Stop fooling peoples and make hole in their pockets.... If you feel that your organization is running short of funds then just beg for it to the customers they would be OK to give you some amount then to get looted by you'll like this....

I felt that this MNCs would have a better system in place and good services but feels like the Indian Banks are far better then you'll. They might have less to offer but at least they don't cheat their customers.....

There would had been a lot of words with ***r*s and all but since its a public forum I have restricted myself form doing that.... Beggars.....

                              HI,

Few weeks back i have sent an email to the CITI bank service id for knowing the procedure for creating online passwords and i have requested them to callback on the registered no.

I have received an email with the standard procedure, with out undersatnding the query. Again i have sent an email requesting them to callback. Citi bank has not reverted and they have sent an email after three days with the standard template.

Then i have addressed to their Grievance id and have got the call after 7 days. When i have questioned them, interim email states the query will be actioned and replied with in 3 working days. Why such a delay in actioning on the email.

they simply said i apologise for not actioning on the email; i have told them if i have do not pay the payment on time and say i apoligise for the delay. Bank will not waive off the late payment charges.
they have told me, bank will not waive the charges and those charges are applicable as per bank norms.

then i have requested them to arrange a callback form the senior manager. till date i have not received a callback from the bank. ITs almost 15days.

                                Dear Sir,
This has the reference to my Credit Card No. [protected] for which the total amount due was Rs.25339.30 and the due date for payment was 6th September 2012 (as per August statement dated 14th August 2012 for a period of 14 July 2012 to 13 August 2012).

Out of the total dues of Rs.25339.30, I paid an amount of Rs 2000/- on 5th September 2012 vide Reference No. MT[protected] and Transaction No. E Pay MUTI[protected], which was more than the minimum amount due of Rs. Rs.1267.30.

The balance amount of Rs 23339.30 was paid by me vide Reference No. MUTI[protected] on 15th of September 2012 at 13:48:16 hrs.

Thus, if any late payment / interest is to be charged, then it has to be “on the balance amount Payable of Rs.23339.30”, for a period of 10 days, i.e., from 6th September 2012 to 15th September 2012.

Hence a total interest on balance amount of Rs.23339.30 @39.9% annually for 10 days comes out to be Rs.255.13 and SERVICE TAX @ 12.36% shall be Rs.31.53. Thus making a total late interest / penalty of Rs.286.66 only.

However, in the latest statement dated 14th September 2012, CITI BANK has levied the interest of Rs 1122.47 and the service Tax of Rs. 138.74, which is not correct.

On contacting and writing a mail to rectify the same, CITI BANK has refused to rectify it, following which I have requested CITI BANK vide mail dated 19.09.2012, to cancel my Credit card.

Meanwhile I have paid an amount of Rs 287.00 towards the late payment fee as calculated by me, Vide Reference No. MUTI[protected], Payment Amount Rs 287.00 Dated 17th September 2012 12:52:05 Hrs.

CITI BANK has acknowledge the receipt, but still insisting to pay the balance amount of interest which was wrongly calculated.

                                Requested to do Justice.

                                Regards

Citibank — Over charging by citi

For a 7 yr relation with citi cards as a customer, they are still charging late payment and service charges of close to approx Rs. 2000/-. I had to travel outside city and made delayed however full payment. Still they charge and refuse any withdrawal of charges.

                                    Hi,

I hold a suvidha account since 7 years. On 16th morning 1.35am i did a withdrawal for 1000Rs at Embassy Golf Link Citibank ATM, where the transaction failed. Immediately i went to nearby another Citibank ATM and withdraw 1000 Rs which was successful. But the transaction slip which i got after successfull transaction shows 2000Rs debited from my account, whereas the first transaction money did not come from the ATM.

I raised the query with Citibank customer care, and i was told a temporary credit would be done by 17 sep 2012, but which was not done, on calling up customer care again i got to know they validated the transaction and the report says, it was successfull, and hence the money will not be credited.

I would like to raise the complaint against Citibank.

                                    Thank you.

                                      Citibank — Non Co operation

                                      Hi,

I have been a victim of Credit Card fraud when someone cheated me off Rs 2700.

A fraud transaction was carried out on my card but the Citi Phone officer could not help much.

07/11/2008 TATA INDICOM PAYMENT Rs 2700.50

The above mentioned transaction has not been done my me and I wanted the transaction details as to what account number or Phone number the payment was made but the citiphone banker asked me to contact Tata Indicom. I went to the Tata indicom head office but they told that it's not possible for them to trace a payment in their database of over a milliion customers accross the country, which I think is quite logical. They told me that only Citibank can give all details as one cannot make any payments online without entering the basic details like the phone number or the account number, which absolutly correct as I myself make online payments too.

Citibank is forcing me to make the payment as they say that this is a secured transaction and are constantly pestering me with collection calls daily. Everytime I have to narrate the whole incident to the collection agent yet I get about 10 calls daily.

The Rs 2700 has gone upto Rs 6053 with interest yet no one is ready to understand my plight.

Please do something as I don't feel comfortable with a debt on my head.
