[Resolved]  Citibank India — Wrong Banking Practices

Address:Bangalore, Karnataka

I have a savings account in the MG Road branch of Citibank. I had issued a cheque dated 12 September, 2011. The cheque was presented by the third party on 8 September itself. The cheque was returned by Citibank citing the reason 'Insufficient funds' and I have been levied a charge of Rs. 275/- for cheque return charges. I do not understand, why I am required to maintain sufficient funds on 8th September for a cheque which is due for payment on 12 September? Add to the probem, I am supposed to pay cheque return charges for a cheque which was NEVER due for payment on the 8th of September?
I understand that at the drop of a hat, the Banks and Credit Card companies levy hefty penalty charges on the customer for any default. Hence, for the harrassment caused to me by the Bank, I propose that damages should be paid to me.
