[Resolved] Citibank - India — $75 Foreign currency Cheque Collection charges for $333.58 cheque | |
Hi, I am not happy with the answers received from citi bank officers for the charges deducted for my account for foreign currency cheque collection. Please look into the below issue. I have deposited cheque no 524615 amount $333.58 in Citibank Bangalore in August end. The Cheque was from Citibank USA. Citibank is deducted $75 as service charges and deposited only to USD 258.58 in 25 Sept 2009. In the schedule of charges it is not mentioned. How they can deduct such a huge service charge. Further, the aforesaid cheque for USD 333.58 was sent under direct collection. Citi Bank charges — Cheque clearance charges.
Citi Bank Charges for NRI Account cheque clearanceI opened NRI account with Citi Bank in Ahmedabad.
I went with cash but bank refused to open my account. Bank asked me US$ 1000 cheque to open account. I provided cheque.
When money got deposited I received US$ 915 only.
I asked CITI bank and they refused to tell me that it is their charge. Instead they asked to inquire with Bank of America. BOA told me that there is no such charge.
I showed all communication to CITI in India but did not provided me with refund.
I send legal notice with allegation that bank did not informed me that there will be a charge. As an American bank you are required to know this and also inform new customer.
Surprise, I received full refund with apology.
I closed my account with CITI.
