[Resolved]  Credit Card — Incorrect Name on Credit Card

Hi,

I was issued a credit card by HSBC with incorrect name. Though, my first name was correct, my last name was entirely different. This happened almost 2 years back.
I called up the customer care and told them that I cannot use this card as my last name is incorrect in the card (and even in their database). If they send card with correct name, I will use the card. Few such requests did not result in issue of new card with correct name.
Then, I just forgot that issue and didn't use the card for ever.
Recently, the credit card section called me and told that there is some due on my credit card. They are claiming that the card got renewed for two years and hence this is the renewal fees and even if I have to cancel that card, this is the fee I have to pay as a settlement. Otherwise, they are take legan action.

My question is "as the card was not sent with correct name, and request for correction was not listened at the time of issue of card, asking for a settlement fee for cancellation of card is valid?" What should be my move now?
