[Resolved]  Drainage Problem — OVERFLOWING DRAINAGE DURING RAINS

Address:Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh

Since many years we have been facing this problem and the residents of our street (Maddilapalem, ward No. 10 ,backside Durgalamma temple ) have been complaining to various officials frequently but in vain. When ever there is even a small rain, the water from the main drainage overflows into our street within few minutes (back flow ) and causes a great agony to the residents as we cannot even walk on that road due to the thick layer of drainage residue. It is also very unhygienic as the garbage of the main street is flowing and depositing in our street. The pathetic condition stays on (the dirty smell and rubbish on the roads) for a few days as there is nobody to react immediately and clean up the mess. The residents of our street have no other option but to clean up somebody else's garbage which flew into their street.

The problem is because of two reasons as per my knowledge. first, the small drainage in the by-lane street is at a lower level than the main drainage in the main street. Secondly, the main drainage has been blocked totally (which is visible explicitly) at many places in the main street. I hope if the municipality authorities can open these blocks in the main drainage or totally close the drainage, the problem might be solved to some extent. When there exists an underground drainage system, I don't understand how these drainage are filled with filth. Kindly rescue as from this agony and pathetic situation.
