[Resolved]  Goodyear — Defective Tire

Dear Sir,

I had purchased four Goodyear Tires on 10th August, 2012 from an authorized dealer of Goodyear, Capital Tyres in South Delhi, which we had located through Goodyear portal and was recommended by Goodyear as branded dealer outlet. The very next day which is 11th August, a Saturday, we went for a short drive to Greater Noida from my residence in Saket, New Delhi and we suddenly heard a strange noise and stopped our car. We saw that the tire was flat. We immediately changed the tire and called the dealer who asked us to get it to him the next day. The total distance driven on these new tires were barely 50 kilometers.

Immediately on Sunday we rushed to the dealer and requested him to change the tire as the same was obviously defective and had kind of tore/burst on its own. No nail or sharp object was found in the tire as was also confirmed by the dealer. Since Sunday was a holiday for the Goodyear representative to visit, he requested us to wait till Monday. On Tuesday evening we were informed that the representative Mr. Sanjay Kumar had checked the tire and had reported that there is no manufacturing defect and we have run the tire on flat-which is completely false and a biased report.

We were told that as a special gesture they would replace the tire at half the cost. We do not believe and buy this story. This tire was completely defective, no sharp object had been found in the tire and still a false report is being circulated to mislead.

Incidentally Mr. Sanjay Kumar the service engineer from Goodyear was extremely rude when we tried connecting to him on Saturday after several attempts, he did not pick up our phone for continuously two day and on our request to visit the shop to see the tire in front o[censored]s, he simply refused and said that he is not well and cannot come. We requested that Goodyear is such a big company and surely some other representative can visit we are sure that the business does not stop because of one person, a junior engineer being unwell.

However we were told that nobody will be available and he said that we can talk to his senior Mr. Arvind but he did not have his number and said that he would give it to us in the evening.

As expected he never called up and neither did his senior. I believe there is some major fraud which is going on at this level where they are not even allowing the customer to reach out to any senior person and the entire process of inspection looked like a big farce and was not at all transparent.

My first question If everything was fair then they should have called us at the time of inspection, where we should also have been given an opportunity to bring our service engineer from Corolla service center and the report should have been handed over to us, instead we were harassed no end by the service engineer who simply refused to talk to us and gave us a totally false and biased report.

My second question if there is no manufacturing defect then why are you agreeing to replace at half the cost. We are in no need to any alms it is a question of integrity and the WARENTEE that Goodyear brand talks about.

My third question the report of the service engineer also bears the customers signature which is not mine. You can see my signatures when I have taken the tire back and signed at the shopkeeper’s document. Is this not FRAUD who has signed in the report on my behalf?

Is this how the Goodyear employees sign and do fraud?

We request you to look into this and throw some light as how false promises of Guarantees and Warrantees are being offered to customers. Appreciate if you can use your chennels to get us replacement of our tire.

I called wheel assist helpline number and have been asked to write an email to [protected]@goodyear.com and the same has been done. We have also lodged complain in their portal. Hope this is sufficient input to review my case.

Goodyear — Defective tyre

to whom ever it may concern,i had purchased tubeless goodyear tyres from Singh Tyres Near IIT delhi and after few months had problems with my tyres,after i complained to the company,they send a field engineer named Ankur Gupta who gave all possible illogical reasons for the tyre to be defective but manufacturing defect of the company ..firstly please dont malign your company image by sending amateur engineers to inspect tyres..thereafter i was denied replacement..i am a research scholar and had bought those tyres from my scholarship but how does that matter to the fraud company like goodyear, now that i am not left with any option i will go the consumer court to resolve the issue as there is no hope from cheats like goodyear . my complaint no is Q[protected]..and my name is Harsh Vardhan Shyam, Ph.d scholar in JNU, New Delhi.. my email is [protected]@gmail.com.. if anyone has the same problem as mine please mail me as ill take up this matter very seriously as its the matter of our consumer rights and consumer awareness and in no way we can allow fraud goodyear to get away..

goodyear tires — tires complaints

I tend to agree about the inferior quality of service and bad quality of tyres from Good Year. I bought indica vista quadrajet fitted with Good Year tyres from Away motors at jeypore. In about 12000 Kms of running one tyre has developed a bulge at the centre of the tyre. I have called up the complaint centre and launched a complain and they sent me reply SMSs on the complaint number Q[protected] of Good Year and got reply that "Good Year wheel assist will contact you shortly" No body has contacted me till this time for last three days. i think they are not serious about customer service.
if serious about the complaints then instruct your reps to contact0make a call to tell about the date and place of inspection at the earliest
I purchased a new Montana by Keystone 5th wheel trailer in 2012. It came equipped with Goodyear Marathon ST235/80R16 LRE tires. I check the air pressure before every trip and even carry a small compressor to keep the tires properly inflated. With about 3, 000 miles on the trailer, the drivers side front tire blew out causing damage to my trailer. Six weeks later, the passenger side front tire's tread completely separated causing damage to the camper. The total damage for both sides was estimated by my insurance adjuster to be over $1500 dollars. The Good Sam's emergency service provider told me that the Goodyear Marathon tires were extremely problematic and that I should replace them all with another brand. 5 replacement tires will cost me about $1500 dollars.

I contacted Goodyear warranty service but they offered me little or no help. They told me I could not get a warranty replacement and damage reimbursement because each department required the old tire, one of which was nothing more than shreds. Also, my insurance company needs to have the defective tires to pay for the damage.

My Progressive Insurance adjuster showed me on what was left of the one tire I still have, that it was made in China, though he did not come right out and say it, he suggested that Chinese Goodyear quality is extremely suspect.
