Housefull Furniture — Rubbish service | |||
I had oredered Akira Book case from HOUSEFULL FURNITURE website on 20 August2012 vide online order no.5200. The online transaction was smooth and amount was promptly debited from my bank account. But there systems work smoothly only till payment is received from customer. Afterwards story is different. Till twenty days, there was no response. I called on 9 Sept. and after ringing phone at customer care for about one hour someone picked up the phone and asked me to contact Sales department. Sales department informed me that product will be delivered on 13 September. At last, the D day came and the unassembled book case reached my house on 13 September. It was unassembled imported straight from Malaysia. Therefore I could understand the delay is due to shipping. Probably, they order the shipping in a lot every month only after receiving full payments from customers. The delivery boy told that an assembler will come on next day to assemble the product. That next day has not come. After seeing the product, I realized indeed it is of very light quality and little strength. These products must be costing very less in wholesale. The Book case I ordered is of cost Rs.2500/. But I don't think they buy it at more than Rs.500-700 from foreign exporters. Add to it, the cost of shipping and the rest is their margin. So, in all they are furniture wholesale importers. But, what about their Customer Service? Here too, they are too smart to cut the costs. They do not keep much staff to attend customer issues. Most of the time, their staff do not pick up the call. When their assembler person did not come, I called their Dahisar and Andheri offices but nobody picked up phone during daytime. When I called their Customer care no.[protected], it was switched off. Then I called their Sales department and they informed me to call Assembly Department. The experience of calling Assembly depatment was altogether unique. I called for about 1-2 hour on phone no.[protected] and[protected]. Whenever the bell rung nobody picked up the phone. However, sometimes while dialing these numbers, I heard number Busy tone. At first, I could not understand it. Later I realized they use the phones only when they want to call. They do not receive the calls. Probably, their Managers have given them excellent training to avoid incoming calls to stay away from customer pressure. This is how they cut their Labour costs and manage with less staff. If at all I get a chance I would like to meet the Staff Manager and the Customer Relations Manager to learn these tricks to save company costs and increase margins. They not only exploit labour by keeping less Staff but also exploit Customers by not delivering products within due time and not attending Customer Calls. Excellent strategy!
