[Resolved]  Innova — very poor mileage and service from the authorised service Nandi Toyota at Bangalore

i work as an aero engineer, work on airplanes.bumped on your issue while i was searching to buy an innova myself.i know liitle about cars but i think we can solve the problem by a little of analysis.auth centers generally have a daily target of sale of spares to achieve whether your complaint is cleared or not.replacing a component of an engine is like flipping a six pence off a pocket for them because u r going to pay and not them.and they make sure u r not near the car while they work on it.

1.before they get their hands on your car, ask the tech or the engineer as to what has he found out to be the problem and how did he arrive to that conclusion.i[censored] dont do this, u will have no control but just a financier for them.do not allow ur machine to be touched unless u being told what they are going to do.i[censored] miss, its going to be charged.

2.ask him to tell u something of the basics of the engine and system.may seem funny as some learned lot may ask i[censored] r going to be an engineer.if he seems to be smart keeping u away from what is going on inside your engine(trick in most cases-keep the customer in dark and surprise them), pls google on to diesel engines and basic fuel injection systems. it will reap u great rewards.net explains things in the most simplest way(my sincere advice) beleive me, this knowledge will be the check valve keeping your wallet from going empty.

3.u may even search for simlar complaints like yours in yahoo answers(which has a lot of faq s).i[censored] can post your problem as question in yahoo and wait, a lot of experts looking at this can give u a correct advice.

4.most of these faults may pose serious but can as be as simple as a dust in some corner of the system.never be in a haste, spend some time with your car and do some observations with the engine on in the bonet, iam sure you will find out something. try to identify the parts like the fuel injection pump etc, look for fuel leaks, check if your fuel tank is fine along with its supply pipelines, filters, unions, fuel return lines, fuel return line from the fuel inj pump for blockage etc.

5.the best thing i can tell you is to ask people who have bought the same car and enquire them what mileage they get.ask them what are the faults(both relevent and irrelevent to that of yours) they have faced and what they did to clear the faults.i[censored] find such simlar complaints collectively, then that is the way the engine is.but i guess yours is not that old for a kind of problem like this.

6.kindly use a trusted and reliable way to check the mileage.check the clutch and connected items as these are active members in contributing for such problems other than your innocent enigine.i hope you do not fuel at the same station all the time, reason being know by you.

7.this is going to be difficult for you but is a straight and direct shot to identify the problem, that is trying to fit a fuel injection equipment/injectors/ecm from an other innova to yours and see if the problem persits.but if the other car gets affected, then u got it.the cause can be faulty fuel scheduling or wasting somwhere else.

please feel free to reply me with a short history of problems u faced and what was done on your car so long, with the year of manufacure and car model, i shall try to contact a few expert friends i have and help you.
