[Resolved]  Metro Railway, Kolkata — Wrongly Charged & Harassment

I am Kaushik Chakraborty one of the passenger of kolkata Metro Railway. Yesterday I bought a ticket(around 10:20 AM) from MAIDAN station to MAHANAYAK UTTAMKUMER(Tollygunge). The Person who was seated into the ticket counter gave me the ticket of RS 4/-(1 Zone,1 Ride, Ticket no:450330). Due to I don’t know the actual fare, I took the ticket. When I reached my destination station the getman( who was standing in civil dress) caught me and we went to the station master's room. They asked me to give them of RS 252/- as fine amount then I come to know that the fare from MAIDAN to MAHANAYAK UTTAMKUMER(Tollygunge) is RS 6/-(2 zone,1 Ride). I was trying to make them understand several time that, their staff given me the wrong ticket and there was nothing my fault, then why should I pay the fine amount for his mistake, when I told that this thing, They are started to harassed me, they snatch my mobile by force. Then I was bound to paid the fine amount of RS 252/-(Penalty Ticket no: 096611) because, I was in hurry to reach my office. All this incident happened in front of on duty traffic supervisor MR. J.D.Hazra at MAHANAYAK UTTAM KUMER (Tollygunge) station.
Now my question is that, Why should I pay the fine amount for their mistake? And why such an inefficient people are sitting into the ticket counter who doesn’t know the fare? Or it is the new policy of Metro Railway to earn some EXTRA MONEY from the passengers.
My request please take the needful action regarding this matter so that, no more passenger needs to get harassed like me.

These people are not doing their job, what they are supposed to do
Strict Action need to be taken against such Employee.
we all know that the last metro from dum dum is scheduled at 9.45 hrs and the counter is scheduled to close before 3 minutes of the last train. But to my utter surprise, on 4.5.11 while I was going to catch the last train, I found that all the counters are closed before 9.30 p.m. It was happened not only on that day but in 2/3 occasions earlier. I would like to put it on the record and bring it to the knowledge of our beloved Rail Minister so as to kindly intervene in the matter. Pronoy Mukherjee, Dum Dum

Hi...My name is Dipanwita Banerjee working in an MNC in Sector 5...The same incident happened with me & my aged mother today...I boarded the metro from Sovabazar with my mother at 9.07 PM...The person at the Sovabazar ticket counter gave me Rs.4 ticket instead of Rs.6 though I asked for a ticket to Jatin Das Park...It didnt strike in my mind that that "deaf" person sitting at the counter has handed me the lesser fare ticket. So I didnt see the same in hurry. Moreover it is difficult to see the fare amount written on the plastic token used as tickets nowadays...When I got down at J.D.Park the metro officials present there harassed myself & my aged mother, used slang & were trying to force us to give Rs. 252 fine. They didnt even consider that two ladies were travelling alone at night & around 20 ill mannered people gathered there to force us to give Rs.252 whereas the fault was of the Sovabazar ticket counter person...They were trying to detain my aged mother there at 10.00 PM in the night !!! We stood there for around 10mins with heavy baggage with us...They could very well make out that obviously we are not the kind of people who can do this kind of thing to save just Rs.2 !!!...But still they kept on harassing us...It was so insulting & humiliating...Its a shame... However...I kept on saying that I would not pay the fine at all with no fault of mine be it Rs. 2, or 252 or 252000 whatever the amount is...If they would have managed to take the fine...I would have sued the metro with a case I was determined...However..ultimately we managed to get out from there safely after all the harassment because I am not the kind of person to bow my head before unjust things & demands...However these kind of officials harassing the passengers must be penalized by the metro authority for their behaviour...Please look into the matter asap to minimize these kind of harassment...Otherwise metro authority will be piled with court cases & penalties

Same pair of stations, same problem!! Wonder if its a scam!

I asked for a ticket from Maid an to Tollygunge.
The agent gave me 4 INR ticket. It did not accept at Tollygunge.
The security was suggestive to settle without fine.

I asked him to take me to office.I explained to the agent CHHOTE RAM, that the metro agent made a mistake and gave me wrong ticket.
He asked me prove.

I told him I am willing to buy a new ticket.He refused.
He challenged me saying why I did not check the fare!

I did not know consumers need to challenge ticket teller agents.
Really!!!

And what if I Check the fair and ask for 6 Rupees ticket but he gives a token which is wrong????!!!

Worst he proposed to compromise, with another defaulter who had no money RO pay.
He said you can share the fine between you too!
He was not eager to give me a fresh ticket, but was OK for this compromise!!

I paid 252INR FINE FOR NO FAULT OF MINE.
AND FROM KAUSHIK, S post it is not first time!!!
