[Resolved]  Rented House — Owner not returning the deposit amount.

Address:Pune, Maharashtra

My Name is Lalit Panda. I would like to raise a complaint against our house owner. Her name is Bimla Pandey. Contact number: [protected]. She is not returning the complete deposited amount. We had an agreement that we are taking the house on rent for two years, we paid 70 thousand rupees deposit. There isn't any thing mentioned on the agreement regarding the deduction of a single penny from the deposite amount. She has only returned the 38500 rupees. She had deducted 20 thousand rupees for painting her house. 3000 for cleaning. 3000 for electric bill which we have already paid. And 6000 more for the stuff that we had used in her house. Her name is Bimla Pandey. Contact number: [protected]. G1/1 Hermes Herritage, Phase II, Shastri Nagar. Pune

Rented House — cost of owner's items lost in theft

I am staying in a rented house at Jodhpur. When I was out station, theft occurred in the house and bath room fittings (8 nos., mixture/non mixture type) are stolen. The house was properly locked when I left the station and the house owner was intimated regarding my absence.. The thief broke open a window glass (without grill), entered the house and took away the bathroom fittings. No other items are lost. Since the agreement for lease states that, when I vacate the house I have to hand over the house in the original condition, the house owner demands me to purchase new fittings against the lost ones.

Since theft is not due to the negligence from my part, intimation was given to the owner regarding my absence from the station and the theft happened during my absence, I feel, I should not be responsible for the theft and the house owner should bear the cost of stolen items.

Please advise me on the above for further course of actions.
It is the duty of owner/lanlord to make sure that the doors and windows are secured. It is not your fault for not having a grill for the window.

However, you should have told the owner that the window is not secure.

Give a police compalint and a consumer complaint.
