Subject : Cleaning & Sanitation problems at
DDA Janta Flats, Gazipur, Delhi

Respected Sir

Through this letter we wish to bring your kind notice on our grievances regarding very poor cleaning and sanitation conditions being faced by the residents of the DDA Janata Flats, Gazipur, Delhi - 110 096.

Sir, DDA Janta Flats at Gazipur are surrounded by diaries on both sides. MCD has provided 4-feet deep drainage on the front and backside of the flats for passing gobar water coming from the diaries

However, these drainage are seldom cleaned as a result the garbage and shield gets accumulated in the drainage causing blockage to flow the gobar mixed water which results drainage overflows into the roads of the colony. This has resulted in getting bad smell from the drainage which is causing breeding of mosquitoes and spurt of diseases like malaria, typhoid, diarrhea etc. Earlier these nullah were de-silted every year in addition to routine cleaning. However, since last Fifteen years this has not been done.

We wish to state that cleaning and Sanitation of the colony is very poor. Safai Karamacharies while sweeping the road, puts all plastic bags, husks and dust into the nallah due to which the nullah gets blocked with full of garbage.

Moreover, cleaning and sweeping of inside roads of the colony is also seldom done as a result the condition of roads are also very pathetic. MCD’s truck used to collect the garbage from various places, but now this has not being done since many years. As a result bad smell from the garbage spreading into the colony besides the bad small coming from the drainage which are very badly affecting the health condition of the residents.

We have on several times lodged verbal and written complaints to the
Deputy Commissioner, Shahdra South Zone and your MCD staff Mr.
Mahesh Kumar – ASI, Mr. Jagbeera alias Neta - Safai Karmachari,
Mr. Mahabeer Prrasad Safai karmachari of the area. We have
also paid several visits to apprised Mr. Mahesh Kumar-ASI of our
grievances. However, all complaints and requests to MCD
Authorities have fallen on dumb ears.

During the last two years of his tenure as Area MCD Staff Mr. Mahesh Kumar-ASI, Mr. Jagbeera alias Neta & Mahabeer Prasad-Safai Karmachari has not done anything worthy for betterment of the living conditions of the colony. Further, we state that during the years 2007-08 and 2008-09, safai and cleaning campaigns were held in all of the colonies where the MCD have utilized their allotted funds for better of the colony. However, Mr. Mahesh Kumar-ASI and his staff has neglected our colony on this count also.

We, therefore, request your good offices to kindly look into the matter and transfer all above mentioned staff to other Zone immediately, for better have the drainage de-silted immediately (before the monsoon starts) and also issue necessary instructions to all concerned to ensure proper cleaning of the colony including the roads.

Thanking you,

Yours faithfully,
For Residents’ Welfare Association (Regd.)
