[Resolved]  Restaurant — Service tax

Dear Sir/Madam,

We had recently been to Khaaja Chowk in Indira Nagar for dinner. While paying the bill, we noticed some anomalies in the tax levied on food consumed. The Service tax was taken on the cost of the food + Service charge instead of only the service charge. When we asked the restaurant manager he said the taxes are charged as per the govt. rules.

This is not the first instance of such a scenario, we have noticed such anomalies in most of the restaturants in Bangalore.

Please let me know the rules regarding the taxes levied in restaurants. Request you to take appropriate steps to ensure consumers are protected.
