Dear Sir,
We were travelling by your company bus from Siliguri to Kolkata, departed Siliguri on 10 June 2011 at 7PM.
However the bus after departing from Krishnanagar on the 11th June, the bus could not go for long, it started having engine problem very frequently this as per the drivers statement to the passengers. From about 7:15AM, the bus travelled for 5 minutes and then stopped for 10 minutes.
At 0830 AM the bus completely stopped with no AC running.
There was no chance of the bus continueing for the rest of the journey, the distance to Barasat was 37 km as per the roadside milestone.
Since the AC was also stopped there was no possibility of our staying inside the bus.
All passengers got off the bus and began negotiating with the sparse local traffic for onward travel to Kolkata. The few local transport demanded exhorbitant fares of Rs 1600 per Tata Sumo.
Finally we got space in a local bus and travelled to Kolkata reaching at 11AM.
Undue hardship was faced by my family members, being dumped in the middle of nowhere, and with remote prospects of obtaining a transport to Kolkata.
Inspite of the drivers request for assistance from your office there was not much help.
The company in no way acted in a responsible manner by arranging other local transport for the passengers.
Being a reputed company this was the least that was expected of the company.
We therefore seek compensation for the mental harrrassement, physical unwellness, loss in time, damage to baggage in the alternate bus, hunger and breach of contract on your company's part.
Kindly respond to this email for further correspondence.
Thanking you
Jayant Roy
