[Resolved]  Rto Rules — Double Road Tax

Hello,

Please help define Life Time Road Tax, I believe, I have a car and I am an Indian, why do I have to go through the entire process of paying road tax over and over as you keep moving cities.

IT is a field where you keep moving (Bangalore - Chennai - Hyderabad -Pune- ...)

Trouble of paying Road Tax...does not make sense at all.

Hi jimi,

i am fully agreed with you, the current RTO rules are ages back when buying a car was a difficult thing people has to wait for life to buy a car, but due to these loans and incraesed lifestyle it become very easy, more over now people are moving frequently from one place to other because of there jobs, so time has changed but these damn blood sucking RTO rules are as it is, according to these rules either you should wait for the when you finaly settle down at some place and then buy the car or you should be rich enough to pay road tax to every state you go this govt. dont understand that this is our hard earned money and apart from this when you shift from one place to other there are already lots of expences, i think the existing ROAD TAX rules should change as per the current requirement of time or pepople should stop buying vehicles untill they finaly settle .
i am not agree with rto rules ...
maine many times ek chiz notice ki hai jab bhi ye traffic police car ko pakadh te hai to sirf 100 rupees le kar apne jabe may dal dete hai aur jao boldete hai ...
kya ye hai hamara goverment jo itne rules dekhata hai per apna khudh ka rules sahi nahi kar sakta ...
aur ye hi nahi mere saath jo hua wo suno mujhe orissa may police pakdi phir usne mujhese 4000 liya aur mujhe diya 3000 ka chalan jab maine phucha usse to usne kaha 1000 mere jabe may jaye ga itna hi nahi maharastra jab may phuncha tab udhar ki police to mujhse sidha 500 rupees mange bina kuch license rto registration dekhe...
kya ye hai hamare india ka government rules ...
arre may to bolta hoon ye sab saale sab paise may marte hai...a
Hi,

I would say that if such rules exist in the system, Its high time the Indian Government takes steps in fixing this ASAP. The so called common man cannot bear to pay Life time taxes every time he is transferred to a different state.
There is no way people keep moving states and return back to parental state to get back the pro rated Life time Tax. This is insane and against the sorority of the states of India.

Regards,
As I see it, there has been a lot of sympathizers but no real solution.

There is absolutely no reason why you should fret albeit the process could be time consuming. All you have to do is obtain a no objection certificate from your parent RTO. This NOC as long as its valid, will enable you to travel to different states.

When confronted by a Road Inspector, patiently tell him that a person can even drive to Nepal with an NOC.
I had the same problem yesterday.. and had to cough up 1500 bucks to a stupid Havaldaar. Anyways, got a reason to surf and read the motor vehicles acts (which was long pending since I came to Gujarat). Please go through the link http://www.vakilno1.com/bareacts/MotorVehiclesAct/S47.htm . Also, no traffic police can do whatsoever if you have a proof with you that the car is in the state for a period less than 1 year. No NOC or whatever is needed.
Manish.
I dont understand the meaning of AKHAND BHARAT (One INDIA) if I cant drive my vehicle without going through all the troubles. I dont understand the meaning of life time road tax. All rules are age old and most of them since the British Raj, off course they made to screw Indian public, so rules are being used by our so called elected goverment to screw us.

Jai Hind???
EARLIER TO THE PRESENT RULES OF ROAD TAX, IT WAS PAID YEARLY BASIS. ON MOVE/TRANSFERS ETC ONE WAS TO PAY THAT STATE ONLY FOR THE PERIOD ONE WAS STAYING IN THET STATE. BUT NOW ONE IS FORCED TO PAY EVERY STATE THE LIFE TIME ROAD TAX WHETHER YOU ARE STAYING FOR ONE YEAR OR MORE. THIS ROAD TAX HAS BECOME MORE THAN A CAPITAL PUNISHMENT FOR THE PERSONS WITH TRANSFERABLE JOBS. BANGALORE, KARNATKA IS CHARGING 70000 TO 100000 EVEN FOR THE 7 YEAR OLD VEHICLE, 12-15% OF THE INVOICE COST OF VEHICLE-NEW OR OLD. NO STATE IS CHARGING MORE THAN 5000 AS LIFE TIME ROAD TAX WHEREAS IN BANGALORE IT IS[protected]. ISNT IT MORE THAN A CAPITAL PUNISHMENT.
THE ONLY SOLUTION IS THAT WE SHOULD GO BACK TO THE OLD SYSTEM OF YEARLY PAYMENT OF ROAD TAX, YOU PAY WHERE YOU STAY AND FOR THE PERIOD OF STAY. IF THE LIFE TIME TAX IS PAID IN ONE STATE THAN WHY TO OTHER STATE. AFTER ALL 'INDIA IS ONE' BUT THESE STATES HAVE BECOME INDIPENDANT COUNTRIES IN R/O ROAD TAX.,
THE ONLY SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM IS THAT P.I.L (PUBLIC INTEREST LITIGATION) IS FILED IN SUPREME COURT OF INDIA. OTHERWISE NOTHING IS GOING TO BRING ANY RESULT HOW LONG YOU ALL SHOUT. D K GUPTA, [protected]
