[Resolved]  Swift Vdi — Manufacturing defect in car keys

This is to inform that I bought a Maruti Swift VDi on March 28, 2008 from Rana Motors, Delhi. And since then, both of my car keys have found a manufacturing defect. Both the keys have bent and have now formed a curve. On contacting the dealer i.e. Rana Motors about this, I was told that since these are the keys with immobiliser, I would have to purchase a new set of keys which would cost me about Rs 2, 400.

Since it is a manufacturing defect with the keys, I believe I should not be held responsible for bent keys, hence, I should not be bearing any extra cost for it. And when I tried to convey the same to the dealer, I was only refused straight away and not dealt with properly.

I have tried to contact everybody I could via all the proper channels possible. I sent emails to the heirarchy of management at Maruti Udyog, made phone calls and made personal visits to the zonal office in CP, Delhi but to no response. You must understand my concern as a consumer that I should not be entitled for any manufacturing defect and hence should not be at the receiving end of losses. Kindly look into the matter at the earliest as both of my keys are in a critical condition and if it gets any worse, my car could be found stalled anywhere on road.

All the details are provided below. I would really appreciate your prompt action on this.

Thanks and kind regards,
Rahul Gupta.
