TATA Indicom wimax — Tata WIMAX AVOID IT !!

I have had AIRtel, BSNL and now Tata wimax and would rate them as Airtel -9/10, BSNL - 7/10, TATA WIMAX - 3/10.

I recently relocated in Bangalore (near Bomanhalli) and unfortunately there was no AIrtel in my area so I went for BSNL first.
I took the 512 Kbps plan which was supposed to be priced at 1500, but to my surprise the bill came to[protected]. They charged me 180 rs for the damn landline phone which has no use for me. I try to talk to their customer service but couldn't even find a number. Do they even have a customer service dept.? The other problem was their UT Starcom router. Whenever power went off, I had to manually connect my laptop to the router to enable wireless. Besides customer service & their router everything else was ok. Speed was always good, with almost no downtime.

Anyways I thought of changing to TATA WIMAX even after reading so many bad reviews here. I took the infinity - 750 plan for which I had to pay 7k (4 months advance). The installation response was quick, their customer service was prompt in calling me again and again asking the status of my connection. So waht was so bad about the service ?? EVERYTHING else

1) SPEED : I opted for unlimited 750 Kbps plan as I download a lot and aften connects to my office LAN. The speed that I get sometimes is even less than 100kbps !!! If I calculate the average speed it will not be more than 384 Kbps. So whatever plan you choose just half their proposed speed and then compare the rates with other ISPs.

2) DOWNTIME: As I often connect to office network, the downtime is quite hazardous for me. For the past one week I was not having any internet connection. (Yes one WHOLE week)..I contact their agent, he sends an engg after one day, engg cannot do anything because there is no damn signal !! I was about to cancel the connection but the last engg who visited, assured me it won't happen again and the reason of no signal was one of their stations, which was corrected now.

3) STATIC IP: I have the free static IP in my plan. I have the connection for almost a month now and my static IP is still not activated !!. I have called them numerous times but in vain. I have to go through their login page everytime I need to access internet and god forbid if power goes off OR you close the browser without logging off, you will need to call their call center to kill your session so that you can log-in again. I am doing this at least 3 times a day !!!

So to summarize take TATA WIMAX only:
1) After considering their speed to be half of what they are offering
2) if you can live without net for a week
3) You are willing to spend 1 hr everyday talking to their foolish call center reps. (I asked one guy his qualification - he was BA in political science !!! )

Now, as I have paid the advance and I am stuck with this AWFUL service for 4 months :((..
