[Resolved]  Woodpecker Furniture — Cracks developed in Dining Table

We have bought a dining table set with 6 chairs in April 09, susbsequntly the chair and table have develped cracks within 6 months. We have complianed to the shop, they have send the service person and trying to put paste and rectify the problem. But how can a furniture has problem within one year.. Always we buy wooden furniture to last for few year without any trouble. But in this case it is having problem within one year, Hence i am requ3esting them to take back and replace it with a new one else i need my money back. I am trying to talk to the proprietor who spoke to us at the time of purchase, but she is not responded till date.

Moreover during the last one month the table has lots of insects in the cracks and making noise. It is not safe to keep such products when we have small kids at home. Request someone to help to sort out this issue and take back the dining table with money refund.

Good Customer service at Nelson Manickam Road, Woodpecker Showroom.
mr girish purchased wooden knock down dining table from Woodpecker furniture in april 2009.in end Jan 2010 he complained about some scratches in the leg.we deputed our techinician promptly and inspected the complaint.it was obseved that while shifting the table within the house the movers had shifted the table inappropriately which has caused damge to one of the legs.at the time of purchase, Mr girish was clearly explained that being knock down furniture movement of the furniture has to be done by lifting and pushing or pulling, and this has also been mentioned in our maintainence manual provided to the customer.
We have offered to change the parts damaged by the customer due to their misuse, as a special case, on free of charge basis.but unfortunately the customer has been unreasonably insisting for a full refund and constantly threataning to take us to the court ..
we once again reiterate our offer to change the damaged parts on a free of charge basis though the damage has been caused due to abuse of the product by the customer over the year.
Thanks for the response because we are glad that a response on email /blogs seem to be faster than on a telephone. I would like to first confirm that the first complaint was given in Nov 2009 and not Jan 2010 and the second point being that the Dining table was set by Woodpecker assigned professionals and it has remained in the same place and position that it was assembled, so i therefore fail to understand who gave the input as the table was shifted inappropriately. And the carpenter who came to our house the 3rd time himself mentioned that these cracks sometimes do occur and he would go back and complain to the authorities. So i think Ms.Viji - u pls will have to get the right feedback from your folks first. I would also like to tell u that the Dining Table is pretty heavy and cannot involve moving it as and how we want - We have purchased a shoe rack and a sofa cum bed from you - so its not as if we have bought an article for the very first time and dont knw to handle.
Once again when i called to speak to you - your employees never seem to let us to talk to u - so it makes things worse andthe last time i called - the gentlemen said " You will have to understand sometimes these cracks do come and we will replace the frame" . My point is - i have bought an article worst 25000 and am worried that u are replacing the frame in less than a year - what guarantee do i then have for the rest of the part of the Table. Will u extend the warantee then post changing the frame. I think it will make more sense if you Ms.Viji would get onto the phone and talk to us - because we bought the Table post our interaction with you and you made us beleive that the product is of superior quality and we will get value for our money. Would appreciate a closure on the same.
Mr.Girish., Sad that your dining has crackd within a year. Now woodpecker has announced a buyback offer. Visit their website. Now let us see how they are determining value for their one year old product.

Sinha Sofa — Dining Table

This company is feel is big bogus company they have taken advance from me for a dinning table and till date that is 3 month they have not delivered the same and when ever we call there mobile numbers [protected] and [protected] they never pick up the call I have called them more than 1000 times i think all people dealing with supplier should take care and do no business with this 420 Harish
I have just had a terrible experience with Woodpecker too. First off they demand a full payment for delivery. And then when they brought in their so called fresh pieces from the warehouse they were very shabbily packed and scratched. The chrome plating was scratched and had peeled off at several places. Their furniture is also terrible. Over promised and under delivered. They sell paper laminated wood. That way the paper starts to peel off from the edges. When asked for an explanation their sales person said thats how it will come off from the edges. The person in charge of the delivery did the disappearing act and refuse to answer my calls. Although they promise a pleasant customer experience it was by far the lousiest I have ever had.
I would recommend you avoid this shop at all costs. It would just be another tale of pathetic customer service if you did visit it.
The most pathetic place for shop for furniture is Woodpecker. I have been unfortunate to buy a sofa, dining table and shoe rack as a part of their annual sale. They usually sell cheap chinese imports that look good in their shop but the moment you bring them home, you realize the quality is pathetic. The sofa which they claimed as leather and I brought for Rs.60K gave way within a year. The service person asked me for Rs.40K to get the sofa repaired. Can you beat this? The shoe rack will give way any moment and the dining table is again of the poorest quality. Chinese make again and the legs cannot take the weight of the glass top and I suspect it will fall any moment. I learnt my lesson the hard way and recommend others to buy furniture from a reputed furniture store even if it costs a bit more. Avoid Woodpecker at all costs!
Very true. I would adivce all customers strictly NOT to buy any furniture from WOODPECKER. They are simply cheaters. I also purchased a WARDROBE and it developed fungus within 4 months. When i lodged a complaint horrible was their response and meaningless. There is some problem with the wall . So many woden items are fine but only this newly purchased item is rotenning. Horibble furniture company and it is waste of money for customers
I purchased a WARDROBE from WOODPECKER..the wardrobe developed fungus within a week..also the wardrobe was found to be a damaged one..no proper response also from them..they were just giving some blame excuses..i'm just sick of the manager of one of the showroom of woodpecker..yu of woodpecker go nd hang up some wer..CUSTOMERS FOR THE HELL SAKE PLS DONT GO FOR WOODPECKER..DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY
I havent been to this shop before, but just logged in the net to find a shop nearby. No wonder to see so many complaints for imported furniture. I dont undertsand why does a company sell imported furniture when everyone knows its just use and throw product. When there are so many people who manufacture furniture, why dont they sell indian manufactured furniture. I found a few interesting furniture shops who do manufacture their own products. So, they better know what they sell and can stand up for any quality assurance. I plan to buy manufactured products rather than imported ones which are lousy. flashy withour any quality. Hope others find something similar shops who manufacture and my request to furniture shops selling imported stuffs, please grow up. Dont cheat us, you want money ask us, but dont cheat us. Please
Experiences differ. Mine was different.
I have 2 instances to explain:
1st Instance: when my son broke the dining table glass. I was aghast. I explained the situation to their customer care they were kind enough to replace it immediately for a very very negligible fee. Especially to the fact all i had to do was produce the bill. Their service was excellent!!

2nd Instance: I picked up a cot in that March seconds sale...which happens annually...the prices were very very attractive...so i purchased a few for a value of Rs.60k and odd. But before giving the bill they clearly explained the defects and told us why they had reduce the prices! I really appreciated the way they were matter-of fact about it!

But then looking at the trail posts before me, is their customer service so bad? am not sure my experiences are different.

Well so far the customer service support is prompt and good!!! touchwood!!!
I visited the Besant Nagar showroom today since I need to furnish a full apartment. I asked if the 50% discount deal was still on. I was agast at the sales girls attitude and I mentioned I would like to speak to someone senior. She kept repeating there is no deal. Well I see no reason why I should waste my time here. Customer service...what is that?
what's unclear is what did the sales girl say?
If they can't give the offer, then they cannot.
And asking her boss is warranted.
Customer service has to be understood in the light of demand posed by the customer
It had been a plesant exposure to shop at Woodpecker Furniture. The sales person was quite helpful in showing us the purchase of the furnituret. The service team have done a wonderful job in assembling the delivered goods - Dr. Prakash, Choolaimedu
The qulaity of the product is good - E- Kumar, Kottivakkam

The service is very good ...i have so far purchased twice and the service was always good - Dr. G. Sekar, IIT Madras
I introduce my self as one of their valued customers. Of late i find there is a deterioration in their service levels. Recently i made an enquiry for the repair of a sofa set. Recd a quote from them including the cost of fabric from Ms. Ezilarasi who is in charge of customer care.. I asked them whether i can arrange the fabric, so that they have to carry out the filling and labour portion, since i find the cost of fabric was high. They agreed for this and told me to inform them after i procure the fabric. I have bought the fabric and informed them 15 days back. Till date no response from them even though i would have made half a dozen calls. I even personally visited their show room in Besant nagar, but still no response. I specifically observe that Ms. Ezhilarasi is avoiding my calls deliberately.

It is really pathetic that they do not care for customer service and i feel that their customer care policies are only on paper.

My husband and brother have known Mr Swaminathan of Woodpecker for several years but have lost his number. I tried to get his number so that i can talk about the discrepancies in his store but unfortunately none of them give his number. They say we will call back in ten minutes after asking him but they never do that. I have bought furniture more than ten years back and don't have problems. but three days back i visited the showroom in besant nagar looking for sofa and chose one and i called them and asked them for the dimensions. overtime they would say they would measure and get back and its been three days and still i wondering if they are still measuring. One could have measured the marina beach by now !! i have called them a million times now and have lost my patience. its very clear they are not interested in doing business. I think Mr and MRs Swaminathan should wake up to this and if they are not interested in doing business then they should stop sending messages to our phones about woodpecker and its sales !!!
