I had spondalitis and was operated in Fortis Hospital in the year 2010. I used to park my car in the hospital premises ( provided space for parking).
Lately, whenever I visit either for follow up or for a check up, now they are charging Rs.20/- to Rs.40/-, even when I am admitted or for a regular check up.
Yesterday 11th May 2013, I had taking my wife ( Mrs Rupa Pillai) to consult Dr Gokhale, we had a appointment at 10 am. Doctor visited the Hospital at 10.45 am, so the Parking charges applicable to me was Rs. 20/- ( as they (security guard) claimed you have crossed 30 mins slab). So my complaint is :
    1. Hospitals should not charge parking charges, at least with patients, as such their fees are Rs.750/- for the first time and Rs.500/- for follow up.
    2. If Doctors cannot visit on time, why should we bear the extra charges.

      Hi,

I had gone there for treatment of retinopathy for my diabetic father-in-law. Patient id - 546303. The retina specialist Dr. Neeraj Sanduja referred us to Dr. Atul Luthra for control of diabetes at first. I had already told them that my father in law is here for a short period and I want the eyes to be treated. They assured me that everything will be fine. While Dr Luthra bought the diabetes under control, we went back to Dr. Neeraj Sanduja for further treatment of eyes. He again asked me for two tests which costed 8000 Rs. Just after the testing he told us, that this cannot be treated now, the diabetes needs to be controlled for continuously for next 3 months and then only laser can be done. I was just shocked.

If this was the case that a diabetic patient cannot be treated without a 3 months control of sugar, why did they even do the test ? It was very apparent from the first blood tests that the patient is under very poor diabetic control for the past 3 months (hba1c test resulted 10.7), then any ordinary man can say that laser treatment cannot be done now. They just did the test to take 8000 Rs. and then took their hands off.

But I admire the thought and presence of mind these doctors show to take money off common people. With this kind of brains you can make money anywhere, why dishonor a noble (not so noble any more except a few) profession. Nobody objects to your 5 min - 750 to 1200 Rs visit, why cheat people then ?

Fortis Bannerghata Bangalore does not provide the kind of Service which we feel that a customer requires. This is regarding my Wife's pregnancy which we decided to show in fortis thanks to excellent Doctors. We decided to take up the best possible medical package that a middle class guy can afford by signing up the package, the irony is that the support staff in the gynaecology Department didnt even treat patients properly . The appointment timings was never followed and the patients had to really run and request them every 20 minutes . Later when we decided to find out the reason behind this , the appointments schedule was never there . They enrolled patients who came in as walk in and based on the luck of the patient the name was called up .

Is there a system of customer service in place for our hospitals or are we supposed to beg around for getting the basic facilities ....Vijith [protected]

        Hello Vijith,
Can you let me know the Gynec doctor you wanted to visit in Fortis.
Dr.Geetha Belliappa is a very good Gynec but is always busy.

My wife too consulting the same doctor...

Non cooperative behaviour of people in billing counters

People working in the billing desk are not cooperative. They are rude at talking to customers. Doesn't respond properly to the queries related to the charges of various tests.

we gone through such a bad experience of FORTIS HOSPITAL. because of careless treatment by there Doctors.
my dad had an accident on 15 of Jan 2013. we admitted him in Fortis Hospital Mulund West Mumbai. My dad is Policeman in Mumbai police. he had Internal injuries. which Doctors dint take care properly. my dad spent * days there but still he could not fill better. I personally wanted to meet Doctors, they dint came and nothing told us about treatment and reports, even nurses dint aware about Dr. treatment. name of the Doctor is Mr. R. Shinoy. he was handling treatment of my dad. but no improvement in his health. and the hight of careless is came to know us when on th 18 of jan nurse came with discharge reports and told us you cane take him to home without any prior intimation. they dint examine my dad before making discharge report.Dr. also disnt come to ask hi that he feels better and ready to go home or not. I was very disappointed. after 2 days i took discharge from there and directly shift my dad to LILAVATI HOSPITAL Bandra. this is such nice hospital nad Doctors are also well. when we admitted in Lilavati there Dr. said after test him that his Sodium level in body is too low according to normal level and this thisng will leads to fits, gang-ring etc. so Doctors told us that he need to shift in ICU for this treatment. now after 5 days my dad feels better and came to home.

please take my complaint and take proper action on Doctors negligence from Fortis Hospital.

Last night i took my son (Age 10 years) to Fortis hospital gurgaon for a very minor leg pain below the knee. We were forced to go to the emergency room and were told there will be room charges of 1500 rs. The doctors did an x ray and then a hard plaster and multiple tests. I was pretty sure most of these (except the x ray) were not required and the hard cast not at all needed. The entire not needed drama by junior non specialist doctors cost us an exorbitant 7600 Rs and were advised to come back for a follow up check next day to meet the senior doctor. The on duty doctor said "we need to check if the bone has been set right." How is that possible????!! It is not a bone or joint fracture!! Sure enough, when we called next day, we were told that to meet the doctor would be a consultation fee of 1200 Rs !!! We were now convinced this is all a money making scheme. So i called a known doctor friend and took a reference of another orthopaedic doctor in the neighbourhood. 2 Specialist orthoepadic doctors looked at my sons leg today and said there was no need for a hard plaster and took it off!!! We have been regulars at the fortis hospital in Vasant Kunj and have never been cheated like this. I am sending a copy of this complaint to the consumer redressal forum; because innocent citizens who do not have a medical background should not be cheated by hospitals and their staff to make money.
            Hi,

i am diabetic and suffering with fever. I was admitted but they forced me to go to ICU, Very reluctantly they admitted me to the room. They started injecting drugs without doctor checking me. From next day doctors start coming in and I have to narrate my Sickness to all and also history of my medicine. All of them seems to have short memory or do not believe in reading file. They did all possible test on me and finally suggested bronchosopy . When I refused and did not allow them. Senior doctors came and told me that i may have cancer
I found that I am trapped as they will give me non diabetic food. stopped all my diabetic medicines , my sugar was kept at 400. Finally i fought and got my self discharged with fever after paying over a lakh of rs.
Next day i showed to other doctor who make me normal in 48 hours and diagnosed me with Pneumonia
In simple words they are cheats

All other assistant doctors there in urology department are hijras , after explaining all the problems and symptoms they say wait for the Dr Mohan to come , not sure why there are there ,considering floors were clean ,probably they do the sweeping . Doctor also doent listen to what you want to say and has pre-Conceived notions and will mention that only. Sincere advice is to avoid urology department of Fortis Hospital Bannerghatta Road .

1.ill behavior while making appointment for urodynamic test of a 65+ patient, harassed by hospital authority, they started laughing asking 'is his condition that serious to be concerned of?'!!!!!
                  2. after calling 3 times, they just told to call later n put the calls in hold in the name of searching some file, and later denied to make appointment.
                  3. started joking with patient party,is this something we should expect from hospital authority that takes huge amount of money in the name of simple tests..........but in return shows negligence in duty, irresponsibility and utters filthy words unnecessarily..............!!!!!!!
we are shocked at his behavior(Mr. Dinabondhu,no:-[protected],extension 212,Fortis Health Care,Kolkata).....we have no hope to get an answer from the deaf authority................but by any chance, can't we expect a little justice?

I fixed up an appointment for consultation with Dr. Mohan Keshvamurthy for 12:30 PM on 21st November 2011.

I received a SMS confirming the same on my mobile.

I reached there 10 minutes earlier and paid the fees and started waiting-but the wait never ended. Every half an hour or so, I asked the reception when my turn would come, and they kept lying to me that it would come in the next 5 to 10 minutes.

I then found out that the Doctor had not come at all-so I asked the reception people to give me a clear picture. They again misguided me that the doctor would be there any minute.

I waited till 3:30 PM with pain and suffering, but the doctor never turned up.

This is not the way a professional Hospital works. Their attitude was absolutely pathetic. They are just there to make money and fleece you.

I would not recommend anyone to visit such a irresponsible Hospital.

                      Hi,
I went for vacination to Marathalli clinic of Fortis for my kid, they charged me some x amount for that which was more than MRP but when asked they told that it is the system generated price we cannot do anything and they were not ready to listen it.
Due to some reason i went to Banergatta fortis for regular heath checkup for by kid to the child specialist which we were referrring from baby's birth and also for the second dose for the same vaccine which was given at marthalli, when enquired the price was around 250 rupees less than the price they charged me at marathalli clinic of fortis.
Later on stating the concern they told me they are sorry and they were asking for my home address for money refund.

Fortis La femme, GK-II, new delhi... Dr. S C Gera, the demon in face of doctor.
Incident happen when I went to hospital after taking appointment for my wife to be checked for swelling in feet and legs.
My wife is suffering from high blood pressure, as well as heart ailment, the doctor after taking whole analysis from my wife about the current and past symptoms, prescribed several number of tests, which includes tests for Thyroid, kidney, sugar, arthritis, urine, etc. The medication which he prescribed was only calpol. In the evening when my wife's condition detoriated she gave a call to the doctor on his mobile which he had provided, along with his residence cum clinic address, he told my wife that there is no need to worry as the tests could be conducted even after 10-15 days and dont waste his time. he was abusive and refused any further suggestion.

Even after charging a lumpsum fees of Rs. 850/-, i just want to know that if anything serious happens to my wife, then who is responsible, fortis hospital or dr. s c gera.

If these kind of doctors/hospitals are on a track of money making machine, then where the common people like us should go. Even the hospital staff and MS are avoiding our pleas. Kindly take action immideatly to save life of several people who are becoming a victim of these kind of immoral and unethical proferssional, who onlyknow how to risks a person life for money .

                        Is it just that

Statement Of Maj. Pankaj Rai (Rtd.)

I lost my wife last year at Fortis Hospital Bangalore. The case has been investigated by Honorable Lokayukta and his findings are attached. Subsequently, Government of Karnataka has cancelled the organ transplant license of Fortis Hospital.

Fortis does not have a license for pancreas and yet did a pancreatic transplant. The fact that they do not have a license for pancreas has been confirmed by the registration authority as well as by DGHS - Government of India.

Dirty Politics in a well-known hospital like Fortis (Bannerghatta Road, Bangalore)!!
Today I was a victim of dirty politics combined with gender bias in such a famous hospital. I am TB patient and very sick but was not allowed to use the elevator today because some "important guy" was being shifted from the x-ray room to another floor. A doctor whose name I later found out to be Deepak R. ordered my mom and I to get out of the elevator because some other patient had to be shifted. We stepped out of the elevator and waited for ten whole minutes! This so-called doctor blocks the entry to the elevator and tells us we have to take the stairs because some "important person" is being shifted! After waiting for ten minutes we try to get back on the elevator but he pushes us out and starts yelling at us. Says that he will call security and have us thrown out of we do not get off the elevator. When I finally decide that I have had enough of this cheap so-called doctor and step out to leave he tries to create another scene by blocking my way and falsely accusing me of calling him names! Being a woman it was indeed very disturbing when he came up to my face like he is about to hit me! AlI this for what?? He just held the elevator idle for nothing. I would have understood if there was a patient on a wheelchair or a bed but we were asked to take the stairs just because this Doctor wanted to wait for some guy who did not even exist!!?? You would think a hospital like Fortis would give equal care and treatment to all patients but unfortunately I was shown otherwise today. Me a TB patient and my mom a diabetic and arthritis patient were asked to take the stairs because some other invisible patient was more important to them..why?? Because we are women or because the sick doctor was in a mood to hold up the elevator? Being an NRI this is the most ridiculous experience I have had in India so far! Very sad. I would like to press charges against him and the hospital for denying me timely treatment and refusing to provide basic hospital services. I am not going to let this pass. The pain and trauma this whole thing caused me today will not go unheard.

Message From the Husband of a Dead Wife !
by Swapnil Narendra on Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at 4:17pm

This is the story of a man, named Srijan Sharma, who lost his wife due to neglegence of Fortis hospital, NOIDA.

                                Hi

With deep regret I want to inform you the demise of my wife Rupali Sharma on

17th July due to post operative complication after brain surgery.

I would also like to bring to your notice how private hospitals like FORTIS

are robbing people of their life and money. Please be very careful while

dealing with such hospitals. Find below the details of my experience with

                                Fortis Noida.

My wife age 29 ( occupation- trainer with HCL) was diagnosed with a non

malignant brain tumor on 17th June2011. She did not have any major symptoms

like headache, eye problem or vomiting. She was suggested surgery for

removal of tumor. We took opinions from Max, Indo Gulf and finally decided

on Fortis because of the good reputation of Dr. A K Singh.

Doctors did not make us aware that it is a very complicated surgery and said

that there are only incidental risks. "Amount of risk involved is same as

the risk when you come from your home to hospital"

On the date of admission I pointed out several times that my wife was having

severe cough and cold. It was ignored by doctors saying "Everything is

perfect". Later on Dr Sanjay Gupta admitted that this could have led to

infection. How could they ignore it? Moreover the doctor preponed the surgery

by one day because he had to go outside India. We were totally unaware of

that. Why did not they postpone the surgery instead?

From day one the team did not have any consensus on how the tumor will be

removed. They said that they will try from nose first , if not they will cut

open the skull. On the day of operation (8th July)they said after 5 hrs that

they could not extract tumor through nose so .. they will open the skull. My

dear wife had to go through both the procedures. The whole operation took 12

                                hrs.

Post operative care is pathetic. Why was my wife given sandwich and chole

chawal in ICU after next day of such a major surgery? My wife vomitted on 13

July morning and was drowsy. We immediately alarmed the doctors on duty. But

they ignored the situation saying that everything is normal. In the evening

she was perspiring, We again alarmed doctors on duty but no action was

taken. If the doctors have been proactive they could have saved my wife.

By 14th morning the condition had deteriorated and doctors took her to ICU

and put her on ventilator saying it is not required but as a precaution they

were doing it.The worst part is that senior doctors A K Singh and Sanjeev

Dua went out of country on that day. We tried to reach them through various

means but they were not available for next 3 days. (How could they leave two

patients in such a serious condition? There was another patient with similar

case in ICU who also died )

Doctors who were available ( Vikas Gupta, Bundela, Sanjay Gupta ) acted like

bunch of . They could not diagnose the problem and condition

deteriorated every day. There was total lack of leadership and no team work

at all. Each doctor gave a different reason for the problem ( lung

infection, hypo perfusion, brain infection none of which was confirmed by

the time of death). On 14th July, doctors were saying that there is lung

infection but they had not called any lung specialist. It is only when we

suggested , they called an expert? Why did not they call the experts on

                                there own?

On 16th July Dr. Vivek Chawla was instructed to update us the condition by

7:00 am in morning. However we were not informed till 11:00 Am that she had

a cardiac arrest at 4:00 am. My wife's cousin (who is a doctor in AIIMS)

visited Fortis Neuro ICU on 17th July , he told me that my wife was already

dead. After he left , hospital declared dead my wife. Otherwise they would

have continued with ventilator for god knows how many days. One of the lady

doctor in ICU very shamefully admitted that there was negligence on part of

                                doctors.

The hospital has international standards in only the exorbitant rated they

charge. They gave me an estimate of 2.5 lakhs to cure my wife and charged Rs

5.5 lakhs for her deadbody. We were never communicated that the charges had

gone beyond the estimate. How could they expect us to deposit more than

double the amount at the time of death on a Sunday evening?

There was no doctor from Neurosurgery team available when the death was

declared. When we shouted at the authorities they were quick enough to call

the police within minutes. But they could not get any doctor to confirm the

cause of death or at least give a condolence message as a human gesture. We

had to immediately arrange double the estimated cost, otherwise they would

not give us the dead body.

We had a meeting with hospital management and team of doctors on 4th Aug.

Where doctors accepted majority of our allegations. We demanded a return of

the extra money paid and action against doctors. Director Mr Sukhmeet Sandhu

assured a response by phone in two days. After 8 days we received a

                                condolence message with no action.

Nowadays hospitals believe in profiteering even at the cost of life. There

is no trasparency and they put people on ventilator even when it is not

required. Very careless attitude of doctors, nurses and other staff. Again

                                warning you against such malpractices.

Kindly request you to forward this mail to all your friends and relatives

and request you to suggest me good lawyer/ agency who could help me in

                                dealing with this situation.

My wife age 29 ( occupation- trainer with HCL) was diagnosed with a non malignant brain tumor on 17th June2011. She did not have any major symptoms like headache, eye problem or vomiting. She was suggested surgery for removal of tumor. We decided on Fortis because of the good reputation of Dr. A K Singh.

Doctors did not make us aware that it is a very complicated surgery and said that there are only incidental risks. "Amount of risk involved is same as the risk when you come from your home to hospital"

On the date of admission I pointed out several times that my wife was having severe cough and cold. It was ignored by doctors saying "Everything is perfect". Later on Dr Sanjay Gupta admitted that this could have led to infection. How could they ignore it?The doctor preponed the surgery by one day because he had to go outside India. We were totally unaware of that. Why did not they postpone the surgery instead?

From day one the team did not have any consensus on how the tumor will be removed. They said that they will try from nose first , if not they will cut open the skull. On the day of operation (8th July)they said after 5 hrs that they could not extract tumor through nose so .. they will open the skull. My dear wife had to go through both the procedures. The whole operation took 12 hrs.

Post operative care is pathetic. Why was my wife given sandwich and chole chawal in ICU after next day of such a major surgery? My wife vomitted on 13 July morning and was drowsy. We immediately alarmed the doctors on duty. But they ignored the situation saying that everything is normal. In the evening she was perspiring, We again alarmed doctors on duty but no action was taken. If the doctors have been proactive they could have saved my wife.

By 14th morning the condition had deteriorated and doctors took her to ICU and put her on ventilator saying it is not required but as a precaution they were doing it.The worst part is that senior doctors A K Singh and Sanjeev Dua went out of country on that day. We tried to reach them through various means but they were not available for next 3 days. (How could they be so irresponsible to leave two patients in such a serious condition? There was another patient with similar case in ICU who also died )

Doctors who were available ( Vikas Gupta, Bundela, Sanjay Gupta ) acted like bunch of . They could not diagnose the problem and condition deteriorated every day. There was total lack of leadership and no team work at all. Each doctor gave a different reason for the problem ( lung infection, hypo perfusion, brain infection none of which was confirmed by the time of death). On 14th July, doctors were saying that there is lung infection but they had not called any lung specialist. It is only when we suggested , they called an expert? Why did not they call the experts on there own?

On 16th July Dr. Vivek Chawla was instructed to update us the condition by 7:00 am in morning. However we were not informed till 11:00 Am that she had a cardiac arrest at 4:00 am. My wife’s cousin (who is a doctor in AIIMS) visited Fortis Neuro ICU on 17th July , he told me that my wife was already dead. After he left , hospital declared dead my wife. Otherwise they would have continued with ventilator for god knows how many days. One of the lady doctor in ICU very shamefully admitted that there was negligence on part of doctors.

The hospital has international standards in only the exorbitant rated they charge. They gave me an estimate of 2.5 lakhs to cure my wife and charged Rs 5.5 lakhs for murdering my wife. Not even once we were communicated that the charges have gone beyond the estimate. How could they expect us to deposit more than double the amount at the time of death on a Sunday evening?

There was no doctor from Neurosurgery team available when the death was declared. When we shouted at the authorities they were quick enough to call the police within minutes. But they could not get any doctor to confirm the cause of death or at least give a condolence message as a human gesture. We had to immediately arrange double the estimated cost , otherwise they would not give us the dead body.

Fortis Hospital is an inhuman hospital which believes in profiteering even at the cost of life. There is no trasparency and they put people on ventilator even when it is not required. Very careless attitude of doctors, nurses and other staff.

I would request you to look into this matter and make people aware of the situation of private hospitals in NCR.

I recently did a Health Check up for my parents at Fortis Hospitals, Bannerghatta Road. As part of the tests there was Stool Routine included. My parents however missed to provide a Stool sample. Even then in the set of reports they provided me with Stool routine report. How is this possible??
This casts a doubt on all tests performed and also on the healthcare services offered by this fraudulent chain of hospitals.
They take > 50 patients per day and process all the tests within half a day. I suspect many of the reports provided are just fudged. This is a serious issue since it could be potentially life threatening. I hope serious action is taken against this practice.
Kindly do the needful and tell me what I need to do to take this further.

                                    Regards

I also have similar experience at Fortis Cunningham Road, coming to their consultation charges, i am sure many would have experience the same, we paid the consultation charges of 500, got the doctor consultation done, doctor had asked us to do few tests on the hospital premises which cost us 3500, after getting the test done, the doctor charges another 500 to see the reports, funny...I don't know how professional they are, but they are NOT the Best Hospital neither they have the Best doctors...they are in this Business solely loot money from people in the name of Service.

I don't know how good FORTIS hospital is! But I would like to inform everyone to take care of your vehicle while parking within fortis hospital because there are very bright chances that your goods like stereo or other costly items will be stolen.

I lost my car stereo within half an hour. After going through all security heads / doctor's head i got to know that they are all together and i could not find anyone to help me to resolve this issue.

This was my first and worst experience with FORTIS!!!

I had a Executive health check up from Fortis. In which they mentioned Ultrasound for Liver cirrhossis problem.I went immediately to Fotis doctor GAESTROLOGIST furthur he recoomened many blood test.
But later on i consulted another doctor outside & got ultrasound. But the problem in liver was not cirrhossis , it was fatty liver Which is at a initial stage.
Now my treatment is going outside.
I mean to say that Fortis hospital is money minded hospital which spoils cases of patients & diagonose is
                                        quite poor.

Take a patient who is suffering with pain to a corporate hosital, the hospital see them money machine, subject them to all tests available in the hospital whether necessary or not, not once but many a times and even then, they dont have the personnel or specialist who can diagnoise the actual cause of the disease. Not once but multiple times they do trial and error and charge and pull out every penny from the patients family and above all subject the patient to bear all the emotional and mental pain.

To all the doctors and the hospitals One day you too will have this-
As you sow so shall you reap
                                        I agree.
If you need to visit hospital on holidays, then you are screwed with 'holi' bills. They charge with hidden heavy charge called "Observation Charges".
Hospital should stick a big board in reception of Emergency section, which is the only one open in holiday too, which says "Observation charges = 2500/-". So that, we can rush back to some small clinic for any minor treatment like getting bandage to fresh wound, getting consultation for high fever etc.
These people really suck blood. I really pity on people, who dn't go for insurance.
