The Ordeal: Night of August 24th, 2020.
I had admitted my Mum in law Fortis Bangalore Cunningham Road Hospital for treatment around 7.30 pm. Initially they took her to ER did what was necessary and as I finished my formalities for admission and paid a good amount, they had prepped her to be shifted to CCU as confirmed earlier over call.
Until here it's all good and smooth. Ordeal starts once patient is shifted to CCU.
1. There is No provision for Attenders to sit neither anyway near to CCU nor allowed to be in the hospital itself. Literally your are thrown out on the roads in the cold weather, that too when COVID threat hasn't died off.
2. Raised this concern with MOD - Manager on duty Mr. Thomas and Mr. Pankaj asking for a resolution. As expected they cited health security concerns for attenders as they are also treating COVID patients, they can't allow anyone to be inside the hospital premises at night. Basically they are OK to throw you out in cold to fend for yourself a shelter under a tree and they are not concerned even if you get infected with COVID while you wait on the road.
A question to be answered:
Is it not the responsibility of the hospital to provide a lounge or atleast few chairs to sit for attenders?
Will Fortis Hospitals / Wockhardt - Cunningham Road take responsibility if attender falls sick while waiting on the road the whole night?
Who is answerable to this?
Putting a tagline - 'Excellence Uncompromised' does not help if it isn't followed up by action. Was this information helpful? |
