Although i tried to redeem my units on 3 april 2020, franklin templeton made it impossible to do so..
First, they said i needed to update my kyc but when hsbc [hongkong and shanghai bank] tried to do it on my behalf, they said that my kyc updating could not be done on the website for 'existing customers.'
Then when hsbc tried to contact franklin templeton, they said the backroom was closed because of the covid -19 virus. Then on 24 april 2020, they wound up my scheme so that they have to pay me much less, and that too over a period of 5 years.
Franklin templeton seems to have deliberately made my kyc updating impossible till the scheme was wound up.
The scheme is franklin india short term income retail plan [weekly dividend re-invest] and my folio number is[protected] and the units were worth over rs. 60 lakhs when i applied for redemption.
In spite of my email sent to franklin templeton on 30 april 2020, they have taken no action so far. They have only responded by saying my reference number is 5831751
