In the middle of March, I registered a service request for my Godrej AC (purchased in 2018) by calling their helpline. They registered the request and informed me that the AC is out of warranty timeframe so I will have to pay repair charges. I was okay with that. I also paid Rs. 650 visit charge for the technicians. They fixed it and left but the AC stopped working within 3 hours after that point. Then they sent someone again the next day and said they will have to take the motor and replace it with another one. I was okay with that.
After 4 days they came back with a new motor but that too did not work. This happened 2 more times (with two additional motors that also did not work). By this time the company had already spent more than a month and I had spent more than Rs. 5000. Then they decided to take the entire AC away so that they could test it in their facility. Then they wasted another entire month and after these two months, said the problem was PCB, and then later said even they don't know what the problem is. And every time I tried to call them, one person pointed out another person to call, who pointed out yet another manager to call. And more than half the time, every manager kept avoiding my phone calls by simply refusing to take it, canceling it.
Now they are saying they can return the defective AC back and also return the 5000 I paid, but without any resolution and having wasted two months of my time of hottest summer days without a working AC. Not only that, they said I can pay another 25, 000 rupees in exchange for that AC and purchase a new one. The fact that an AC from Godrej can become scrap metal and its parts are not available in less than 4 full years is surprisingly bad and it might prevent anyone from purchasing from this company in the future. I honestly do not know what to do now, because my original 32, 000 worth of purchase is now garbage in less than 4 years. Was this information helpful? |
