Purchased Optima Secure HDFC Ergo Health Insurance in 2021. It was through an agent and not sure if he was sitting out of Bombay, perhaps he was (I'm based out of Bangalore). I received the Insurance renewal reminders via SMS and email. To renew I went to their website and found that the amount they had put there was more than the premium amount I had paid for 2 years in 2021. Hence I my hesitation to renew as I wanted clarification on the amount with break up. I called their Customer Care 3-4 times, they sent emails with a break up for 1 year and 2 years, but without mentioning any discount in the break up. Now why is the discount amount important? Because on their website and as part of their sales tactic, they have something called a long-term discount of 7.5% if you pay premium for 2 years and 10% if you pay for 3 years. Now I had availed of this discount when I first bought this policy in 2021, which is now soon going to expire. I called their Grievance Redressal Officer, who then put me on to someone else after 24 hrs, who in turn has now put me on to some Case Manager in Jayanagar. And all this only because I wanted a break up of my premium so that I'm clear about the base premium, the discount amount and the GST amount. Their email in fact gave me a break up which stated tenor as 1 year for 42, 099/- which, after calling up I found that it's for 2 years. Now are customers supposed to blindly go with this and just pay up without getting any clarification? And the Grievance Redressal Officer doesn't answer calls, just texts I will call you in 5 mins, and then sends an SMS about reaching out to someone who of course says, not I, he. Isn't it ridiculous?
