[Resolved]  New India Assurance Company Ltd, Heritage Health Services Private Ltd, Calcutta - 700 001 — POOR RESPONSE TO CUSTOMER COMPLAINTS

I had taken a OVERSEAS MEDICLAIM BUSINESS AND HOLIDAY POLICY(HOSPITALISATION BENIFIT POLICY) bearing #[protected] from NEW INDIA ASSURANCE Co ltd, T'Nagar Office Chennai valid for the period[protected] to 8-9-2012. The INSURED PERSON was myself KUMARAN VAIDYANATHAN. The policy provided the following definitions. HERITAGE is Heritage Health SErvices Private Ltd who provides assistance to the insured person while in India.Thir Regd Office is Mcleod House, 3, Netaji Subhash Road, Kolkata-700 001. Tel:[protected]. The frontline office address is Unit 28, Ground Floor, T.V.Industrial Estate, Hind CycleRoad,Worli Mumbai. Tel:[protected]. CORIS is Coris International who provides emergency assistance and claims administration Services. They have an office in Florida, US.A.

I had taken treatments while in U.S. for two cases bearin #s 112929 and 114237. In the second mentioned case, when I had to take a MRI SCAN at Princeton Radiology in July 2012, the institute had taken an undertaking from my son GAUTAM KUMARAN that his credit card will be debited in case CORIS does not settle their dues. CORIS had not settled their dues till end of Sept. I had left U.S. After that my son received a notice that CORIS had not paid up and thay my son had to make good. Having come back to India, I sent e mails and spoke to Heritage and its manager Sri ATUL PARAB at Mumbai. It took several phone calls and time for me to get through to Sri Parab. He condescended to reply my e mail only after I spoke to his boss Sri S.Mukherjee at Kolkata. Finally on 9th October Heritage sent a mail to Coris asking them to settle the claim of Princeton Radiology and also reimburse claims on the two cases to my son GAUTAM KUMARAN in New Jersey.

Despite that CORIS did not settle the claim of Princeton Radiology. My son received a FINAL NOTICE from them on[protected] threatening him that his credit standing in U.S. will de tarnished for SEVEN YEARS if the claim is not settled in 14 days' time. Again I spoke to Sri Parab and sent E mails to him. I also spoke to CORIS in U.S. and finally they sent a cheque to Princeton Radiology. This much about the drama on my case 114237.

Then to my horror I found that my son did not receive the cheques for reimbursement on claims. When I checked up with CORIS , I found that they had sent it to an address where my son was living in 2010 though they had his current address on their data files. I sent a e mail to Sri Parab to direct CORIS to take corrective action.When I spoke to him today, Sri Parab refused that they have any responsibility to me as a customer on this issue and that I have to talk to CORIS.

CMD, New India Assurance has the primary responsibility having issued a policy. Heritage are the franchisee or Associate--whatever name you may refer to them by. I am shocked to find HERITAGE telling me that THEY HAVE NOTHING to do with CORIS and I HAVE TO FEND FOR MYSELF. THIS IS THE HIGHEST LEVEL OF ARROGANCE DISPLAYED BY A FRANCHISEE/ASSOCIATE OF A PUBLIC SECTOR INSURANCE COMPANY.

I have undergone untold mental agony because of the indifference and inordinate delay by HERITAGE in replying to correspondence from CORIS and consequently contributing to damage to reputation of my son.

Please take up this matter with CMD, NEW INDIA ASSURANCE and get a clear statement on the responsibilities of Heritage.

I am posting this so that other customers can be well informed of what they are in for when having business with NEW INDIA ASSUANCE and HERITAGE.
