[Resolved]  Hiringmonk — Did not refund money after failed recruitment results

We are a start-up company and engaged Hiringmonk for our fulfilment. They claim to specialize in servicing start ups like ours. After discussions with Preetam (Founder), we made the full payment. However, many of the candidates they proposed were not interested in working with smaller companies, leave alone start ups. After failed discussions with the recruiter, I escalated this to the founder who promised to fix by involving the lead recruiter. I also raised my apprehensions with him about the payment and he promised to refund the money if the process does not work again. After a brief gap due to this issue, recruitment process was restarted. However, the first candidate indicated that he would not work for a small company again. I escalated this issue again to Preetam and asked for refund. Now neither he and nor any one from his company respond to my emails and calls.

This is totally irrational and unprofessional response from your end where we as a service provider are ready to assist you in all possible means, we have received very cold response from you without and acknowledgement for it and reiterating the same demand from your end constantly, we have been honest about things that can be done and which are possible, i once again would like to give you the same options of either extending the campaign or providing you with a replacement campaign, the ball rests in your court..so please stop making irresponsible comments...Thanks
I had told their Business Development manager Abhishek about our requirement of a Graphic Designer and that they should be from a top tier deisgn institute. The first bunch of 3 CVs I received were nothing of the sort and I stopped the process imediately. Then the founder Ateeque Shaikh spoke to me personally and told me they will be able to deliver on my requirement and to give them a shot again. I was willing to do that as the intent was to find a candidate. I asked Ateeq at the time what if they were unsuccesful in closing the profile? And he told me that then it would be up to me to decide how to take things forward!
The firm was unable to share promised level of candidates and instead of the 2 weeks they had asked for we gave them 3 weeks! Now, they refuse to take calls or respond to our calls or our emails. Ateeq asked someone else completely unware of our matter to respond to us (his name was Shaunak) with some bull about it was a very niche profile and this is the best they could have done so no refund can be offered. If that was the case then they should not have taken up the mandate. If that was the case we should not have been told by Ateeq the second time around that they should be given a chance to do this.
As a founder I feel this is really really terrible work ethic Ateeq. You shouldn't be running an HR firm. Disappointed in you guys whom we looked at as a fellow startup to work together with to support each other.
