Honda 2 Wheelers India — Cb350 Hness

Hi,
I'm posting this with deep disappointment after having tried to escalate this issue in every service visit and multiple service centres(bigwing trivandrum and bigwing kochi). I bought my Honda cb350 Hness in March 2021, and my bike was plagued with issues from the beginning. Some they solved, some critical issues remain. I'll start with the primary complaint since this one is life threatening, everything else can be compromised-
The bike starts wobbling(sometimes uncontrollablly) always at around 60-80kmph mark. I have seen customers complaining about this as low as speeds of 30kmph.. the initial few times i complained, the service center tightens the cone set, ask me to check wheel alignment and wheel balancing(both of which I did), i even spent money to change the fork oil on their suggestion. None of which worked.. finally they keep saying it's the front tyre's fault. To prove this they install a new tyre on my motorcycle as a trial, and when I drive the issue still persists albeit slightly less. They then install my old tyre back and keep saying buy a new tyre.. I'm still running my oem provided recommended tyres(in the manual it's mentioned the brand too), and if it's tyre issue they should be one to keep replacing it, shouldn't come under my purview. This issue started barely 4 months after buying and has plagued me since.. every subsequent service visit, they keep blaming the tyre and say everybody faces this issue and it gets solved when changing the tyre to a different brand. But they still sell the product with the same tyre and recommend the same in the manual.. from other customers what i understand is, changing the tyre reduces the issue for a few 1000 km and then it the wobbling starts again. The service centers refuse to escalate the issue to higher management or provide any reasonable solution even when the customer is ready to spend money and not ask the company to provide free replacement. I hope some resolution can come for this issue, as it's possibly life threatening and an issue faced by a lot of consumers..

Other than this, here are the rest of issues i have faced, and most of these issues have multiple consumer complaints.. some of these issues the company has helped and I'll mention which ones too.

1. Material quality issues-
1a. engine paint started peeling off within a week of buying(Honda keeps saying it's an initial batch issue and just touch up the paint with a spray can. You can see very clearly where the touched up paint is, it's very dissapointing to have a new bike look old with patched up paint, but i have learned to live with it as it is a cosmetic issue.
1b. Premature(less than 2 months) rusting on exhaust, handle bar, mirror stalks, rear helmet lock and petrol tank(Honda uses an anti rust spray as a solution, but that hasn't helped, it rusts again very soon). Again have learnt to live with by taking utmost care about keeping the bike totally dry and dealing with rust as soon as it appears.
1c. Brake pads wearing out very soon- i have had brake pads wear out in 5000 kms, have had customers complain about wear out in even under 2000kms usage. My current set has lasted reasonably so they might have addressed the quality issues on their factory side. Again since it's a wear and tear item, they can wash their hands of responsibilty, and customers look for aftermarket options. Personally even though I haven't faced chain sprocket issues, i have heard about customers whose chain sprocket wear out in less than 7000kms.
1d. Alloy wheel breaking- my front alloy wheel broke and bent under no load or stress while riding. Thankfully Honda acknowledged this issue even though informally and replaced the wheel voluntarily, but made me pay for labor. Event this they made a mistake and installed the tyre in the reverse direction. As a customer i noticed it, their trained service personnel didn't notice it while delivering the bike.
1e. Battery drain issues- haven't faced this personally, but customers have complained about battery draining out suddenly one day morning

2. Right to repair- Honda bigwing doesn't sell their parts over the counter and refuses to sell any part without charging labor for it. Also doesn't let the customer anywhere near the bike bike while servicing, and won't give the correct used parts. I changed my brake pads(which still had some material left on it) and asked for the old pads and they gave a completely used up pads, I'm sure my pads had enough material left.

3. High altitude issues- multiple reports by users of bike not moving in higher altitudes. Honda has fixed this with an ecu update.

I file this complaint with utmost regret and dissapointment, as despite this, it is a product i love but my primary issues of handle wobble is life threatening. The company and service center's apathy to this complaint and their tendency to blame the customer for every issue has forced me to seek any forum that will listen to the issue.

Hi gautham,
It's disappointing but there has been no resolution. Filed an official complaint with Honda and they are more interested in closing the complaint number than resolving the problem. Zero response from them, the service center says it's due to tyre and since it's out of tyre warranty they can't replace it. Do note it's the OEM recommended stock fitted tyre. They tried a new tyre and yes the wobble was resolved, but I hear accounts of the wobble coming back. Anyway I'm going to replace the tyre and wait to see if the wobble comes back. If it comes back within a year, im eligible for tyre warranty replacement, so let's see. I wish I had the time and money to sue this company to high heavens. I'm almost at my limit and might just resort to that. Rusting and paint issues have went beyond my control, the exhaust head pipe is beyond any home care now. Will need to be completely stripped off and rechromed.. infact when I saw your comment i was doing my Sunday routine of doing what I can to get rust off the exhaust, please note this is every Sunday for the last 2 and half years.. i dumped a lot of savings into the bike, and don't have anything extra now, else I'd just have sold this off and got any other bike and gave the great Honda a m finger salute. So basically this bike taught me, NEVER AGAIN A HONDA.
