I took a car insurance on 6th May 2022 from ICICI Lombard via PhonePe app. While taking the insurance and charging the money, PhonePe only asked me about the car registration number, year of registration, last 5 digits of Chasia no and Engine no. Nothing else was asked and I thought with the technology we have today they will easily get the rest of the details using the car registration number, but I didn’t know that PhonePe and ICICI Lombard are still living in the 90s and when I saw the insurance, rather than being in the name of the owner, my father, the insurance was in my name. Then I contacted ICICI Lombard support 4 times via call and thrice via email, and till now I have received no such help from them. They asked me to mail the RC photo and old car insurance to them. I have sent the RC photo but I don’t have the old policy paper which I took from Bharti AXA which is ICICI Lombard now. I asked them to send me a copy of the old policy but they refuse to do that and said I need to go to ICICI Lombard office which is around 20kms from my house to get one.
When deducting the money they didn’t even ask for a single photo but now to get a simple name change I have to go to there office and have received no help from them as such. I took an insurance via PhonePe thinking it will be hassle free but now all I have is hassle. The ICICI Lombard office is closer today, it will open on monday now.
