IDBI Bank — Home Loan Documents- Wrongly informed as Burnt in fire- reaudit done only after Legal Notice

I was incorrectly misinformed in Nov 2019 that my home loan documents kept with IDBI bank for safe keeping were all destroyed in a fire accident at the warehouse. As a shocked customer I filed a legal notice on them in Oct 2020.
They immediately did a re-audit and said my documents are now fine.

While I agree that the fire accident of the warehouse in 2017 communicated to me on Nov 2019 was an act of God, the incorrect information that my home loan documents were burnt was only rectified after my legal notice in Oct 2020 and the re-audit conducted was no mere coincidence.

I am constrained to say that, it is only after my legal notice you have made an attempt to check/re-audit and look for my original property papers. It is very unfortunate that you had wrongly informed me about the loss of my original property documents without first having doubly checked and confirmed the same. I would have appreciated it if the Bank would have carried out the re-audit on its own and informed me about safe custody of the documents. However, that is not the case here. It is apparent that, if I would not have caused the legal notice you would not have looked for my original documents.

As a loyal IDBI Bank home loan customer with a blemishless payment record who has been subjected to mental agony and innumerable trials for no fault of mine, I would appreciate it if you can make arrangements to reimburse the legal and miscellaneous expenses of Rs. 50, 000/- incurred by me due to your deficiency of service within a week from receipt of this email.

Sorry to read this. I am now in the exact same position as you were, and I can understand your pain and anguish. Yesterday (i.e 28-Dec-2020), I have received a letter from IDBI Bank that my housing loan documents are burnt in fire. This is 3 years after the actual fire incident in SHCIL Ltd, Mumbai.
