One of our client, mr. Dilip a saletore, based in the usa had filed an application for pan at nsdl bangalore vide acknowledgement number: n-[protected] and the same was allotted with the pan number hteps5430l in the 2nd week of march 2017.
The address specified in the application was "759, durgos drive, henderson, nevada, usa - 89012".
However, the pan card was not received by him till april end. Upon checking the status on may 1st 2017, the following message was displayed on the tin nsdl site - "your pan card was returned undelivered to nsdl. The reason for non delivery as specified by the courier agency is 'consignee was not available'. The same has been re dispatched on 21st apr 2017 by registered/speed post* vide airway bill no. Ea[protected]in, at the address for communication* indicated by you in the application. The pan card is expected to be delivered by 01may2017."
On tracking the package on india post website, it is noticed that the same has been delivered at jalahalli post office, bangalore.
The address mentioned in the letter is dilip anand saletore, j 33 sriram sadhana apts, gokula, mathikere, bangalore, karnataka – 560 054 tel no.:[protected]. We have since collected the pan card from the location delivered.
Kindly note that no local address had been mentioned in the application. The only correct aspect is that the telephone number mentioned is as per the application.
Further the date of birth as per application is 05/03/1949; whereas that reflecting in pan card is 06/03/1949
We would like to know how this can happen in the case where no local address has been given whatsoever and from where the address was updated; since the proof of the address furnished was the bank account statement in the country of residence.
We would like an explanation as to how the anomaly crept in and who is responsible for this and how such sensitive document be handled so carelessly. How can the postal authorities deliver the consignment without verifying the identity of the person?
If this situation is occurring to foreign nationals, what is the sort of impression they would have on our services in india?
