[Resolved]  Income Tax Department — pan card name correction.

Hi,

I had a problem mapping my pan with my uan and i want to change my pan details as per my aadhar card. I have submitted the online application. Later i was asked to provide a signed consent letter along with pan and aadhar xerox through post and i have also sent a hand written letter. After few days when i checked pan status portal i was stated that documents are not valid and sufficient please contact pan customer service. When i called them they said there is a prefix in the name and we cannot add it and we need a mail from you stating that "kumari" in your name is not a prefix. I have sent the same and have been following pan customer service including the l2 support but today again i was asked to send a documents other than aadhar stating they cannot take aadhar as its not a valid proof and hence i have sent them my passport and 10th certificate again they say that they cannot consider that as proof and are asking for gazzeted signed letter. I feel offended by pan government official who are saying other government id card cannot be used for correcting my name. Its really very difficult for me to correct my details. Note:6206 is the last 4 digit of my acknowledgement number. I want my name to be same in all my government id proofs and i have a problem since "kumari" is taken as prefix by some government organisation and some take the next word as my name and few consider my father name in complete format few use only initials and hence i am facing a lot of problem and have taken an initiative to have the same name in all my id's but it seems to be very difficult. I myself being a lawyer is facing it so difficult for going through proper step without hiring a mediator i worry how difficult it is for the rest of the people to correct there id's or create an id in india.
