I had insured my car with Bharti-Axa General Insurance company Ltd. with following details:
Vehicle detail: Hyundai Elentra, Regn no. GJ-1-HG-6787
Cover note was issued to me mentioning following details:
Period of insurance: 17.10.2011 to 16.10.2012
Policy no intimated by customer care IO 685851
The vehicle met with an accident and intimation was given to insurer on 28.03.2012 and claim was registered under no. S 0088809.
I arranged to tow down vehicle to authorized service station of Hyundai at Ahmedabad. Later on I was told by insurer office bearer that labor charges at authorized service station would turn out to be very much on higher side and I was requested to drop vehicle at private garage which would do repair at very reasonable rate. I obliged to company’s request as I did not mind if company has to bear less burden of labor charges.
Accordingly work was done and I submitted my claim vide my letter dt. 16.07.2012 for Rs. 34933/-. The insurer company then sent me a cheque for Rs. 20336/- without any details of how the claim was settled. I mailed company on 31.07.2012 to send me details. In the mean time on telephone I was told to deposit cheque but I refused to do so as that would amount to my acceptance of claim arbitrarily passed by the company.
In response to above I was mailed a scanned worksheet which was not legible and not readable. I showed my willingness to come personally if they can explain settlement details to me. However company did not respond and again I was told to deposit cheque first. I said that is not possible unless I know how company has arrived at this very low figure of settlement.
They again sent me same sheet from which I can never make out how individual items of claim were assessed. Even when insurance expired on 16.10.2012 company did not show willingness to renew the same. Out of desperation on 05.11.2012 I mailed a working excel sheet to company wherein I had given detail bifurcation of claim items submitted by me and I asked company to just fill in the same sheet how they have disallowed claim amount. Till today I have not received their reply and neither have I been able to realize claim amount for which I have already paid.
I worked in interest of company when I got the vehicle repaired at private garage. Company behaves in a way so that I am forced to accept claim for which I was given no details.
Let me know if you can help me in recovering amount of claim, interest ,compensation for mental agony suffered by me from company.
