Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital — Horrible experience with the doctor- rude behavior

Address:Mumbai City, Maharashtra

I stay in powai and thought of going to kokilaben hospital only because one of close relative recommended me the facilities and doctors... they all seemed really good and experienced. My first visit in the rheumatology opd was to Dr. Sunil, however my condition required physical examination of joints, which wasn't quite a comfortable experience, therefore i switched to a lady doc, Dr. Jyotsna Oak, i wanted to consult her for a very long time looking at her experience. Now my first visit to dr. jyotsna left me completely unsatisfied as she almost refused to hear my symptoms. I tried a no. of times to tell her all my symptoms, i had made notes before meeting her and she told me to keep the notes aside and infact cut me short at many instances ... this left me completely dissatisfied..just because she is highly experienced doesn't mean she should refuse to listen to what i had to say?? people pay high consultation fees at these hospitals expecting the docs to be really patient with ppl visiting them and design a patient complaint treatment plan. a) I knew something more needs to be done about my condition than just continue having vitamin D and calcium medicines. she could've listened to my background and my own observations of my own system... b) every patient is different and a doctor's job is to listen to the patient and then suggest a treatment plan, specific to the patient. c) she started writing general medicines and infact I had to show her dr. sunil's prescription and only then she added the same medicines. i thought fine, since this was my first visit, i'll tell her the next time i visit her for discussing my blood reports. BUT HERE COMES THE WORST PART: I visited her today and the first statement she tells me in an EXTREMELY RUDE TONE "take out the reports, i am not here to open your reports" a) was I her subordinate/office staff to be taking such rude language from her? is she paying me for taking all the rudeness??? b) was she doing all this for charity, so that i could feel a little sorry for her to be doing this job without any pay, and understand her temper?????? c) i was only visiting her for the second time (showing reports for the first time), how am i supposed to know whether she doesn't like to open reports and starts throwing a temper?? Is there a crash course before meeting dr. jyotsna saying "how to behave when you go to meet this doctor?" plz i would like to enroll!!! she could have simply said the same thing in a normal tone... and yes obviously I don't have any problems in handing her my reports, BUT she is always in such a hurry and there's always an urgency in her tone that a patient can really freak out and my first reaction was to just hand over the reports to her directly. then, based on the reports, she told me to continue the medicines.. i asked her whether the painkiller has to be repeated, to which she said yes and i told her that even after 9 days of taking painkillers it has not subsided, she said to continue for a month... in my first visit i had told her that I do not like to take painkillers, so is there any alternative...SHE SIMPLY DOESN'T LISTEN!!! AND TOLD ME 'PAIN HO RAHA HAI TO LETE RAHO NA' Is that how you explain?? I never expected doctors at a 'fancy' hospital like ambanis to be behaving like this. If the patient is paying high fees for consultation, it is the duty of everyone at your hospital to be gentle and caring to patients and not give headaches by behaving in a rude manner, it's definitely not charity that you are doing. Your doctors need to be taught to be polite to the patients, you speak about patient's rights and responsibilities but seems it is only on papers. I am just refraining myself from using any bad language but believe me my experience with her had left me in a state of mind where i could've simply given her a good blasting. Don't understand why ppl take up such profession!!

Absolutely true my friend, we had taken an appointment to see her at 2.30 pm on 22.06.2015, Patients kept on going in and out of her office, eventually after waiting for almost 1.15 minutes, at 3.45 pm we went to her cabin and asked her what's going on and what about the appointment that has been given to us, to which she replied and we quote" I am right now looking at a patient whose appointment was at 2.15 pm, after I have finished with her I will see you." We were unable to understand the circus going on and on approaching the secretary of this doctor she had no reply. I think these type of doctors are a real shame and over a period of time they get sick themselves and ego sets in them, wherein they start thinking themselves as god. Frankly speaking they charge money first and then make you sit like a beggar. They think that their time is money and the other sitting outside are fools who pay money, we will not visit this horrible lady next time ever even if we die for the want of a doctor. Doctors like this should be banned from practising.
Extremely saddened to read the above reviews - however I had a completely opposite experience, Dr. Oak is responsible for curing me. I suffered from Ankylosing Spondilyitis - after visiting multiple doctors, she was able to diagnose my disease the moment she saw me even without looking at my blood investigations. She kept me under observation for 4 days. The medications she prescribed worked miraculously well on my body. She always listens patiently to all my questions. I really thank her from the bottom of my heart and definitely recommend her.

P.S. She isn't rude but just professional - that s how doctors of her stature are supposed to be.
I would like to add my experience on Doctors. Specially Dr. Shreyas Gajjar. My shoulder was dislocated with fracture. Went to Hinduja and other hospitals but as not satisfied with their treatment as I was not able to hold pen and my movement of hand was max 20 degree.
I went through Internet found that Dr. Gajjar has several year experience in Sport related injuries (in UK and Australia)
Dr. Gajjar operated (arthroscopy) and advised me to do physiotherapist. Recommended Dr. Aditi from Komilaben Ambani hospital. (All other Physio
Therapist were slept oval about my recovery .
But because of Dr. Aditi's sincere effort for 14 months(3 times a week), I have regained all my movements and started heavy weight gym training.
But Dr. Gajjar used to always encourage me to improve my performance.
I have never seen such kind of response from A Doctors.
I thank Dr.Shreyas Gajjar for giving me his kind support to regain my shoulder movement and
Also to Dr. Aditi for putting her best .

I had a very good experience with Dr Jyotsna oak, I am suffering from spondylitis. After visiting multiple of doctors only she recognise my problem.. I wasn't able to walk when I came to her in the year 2011 and now I am completely fit because of her only, even now also I use to consult with her. She is not rude, she is very straight forward not like other doctors who jus advise you to take pain killer instead of complete root treatment.
I fully agree with the two positive reports. Both me and my wife are patients of ankylosing spondylitis and we got treated under Dr Jyotsna.
We have always found her very caring, a good listener and yet very professional. We are leading a healthy life today only because of her.
I am also agree with the positive reports. Dr. Jyotsna Oak is a good human being. She really cares and listens to the patients. She never partial to anyone while calling patient in her cabin. We'll always be thankful to her for curing my mother, who was suffering from Rheumatoid Arthritis. We were helpless visiting many doctors, many tests etc. By the grace of God and Guru we find a final solution... Dr. Jyotsna Oak!!! She is really amazing. She recovered my mother and gave us happiness in my family. We'll always be grateful to her and pray to God for her happy, peaceful and prosperous life ever.
Thank you Dr. Jyotsna Oak!!!

Regards,
Deepa Chawande and family.
The negative comment is just atrocious. Dr. Oak works even on Sundays. She is an extremely dedicated doctor and a very humble human being. At the same time she is very forthright. She can never have her lunch on time due to continuous flow of patients. The patients need to realise that doctors are not superhumans.
