During September-2012 and October-2012, some telephone lines of MTNL were dead for 28 days, the reason being given was cable default at their end and no permission being granted by Bombay Municipal Corporation to dig road for repairs. On receipt of monthly bill for September-2012, I approached their Billing Section and concerned Officers of Malabar Hill Telephone Exchange for rebate of rent for 20 days of September-2012 and 8 days of October-2012 which they assured would be adjusted in October-2012 bill. Yesterday, I received bill for October-2012 showing credit of rent for only 13 days instead of 28 days and no changes in service tax and education cess which was calculated on the entire monthly rent. It seems the bill was adjusted manually by their staff who do not know how to calculate Rent, Service Tax and Education Cess. I also apprehend thousands of customers must be getting such erroneous manually adjusted bills for the period their telephones are dead. MTNL authorities should know that Service Tax and Education Cess is levied only on the Rent and other Debits if any payable by the consumer. Was this information helpful? |
Mumbai Mahanagarpalika — Permission to dig for MTNL
We have been informed by MTNL Shivaji Park Exchange that due to cable fault lines are not working. For repairing the cable Mahanagar Palika is not giving permission to dig the road/footpath.
Kindly let me know the reasons for the same & can you hold public service like telephone for any reason.I am in need of telephone service urgently so who will be responsible for that.
Please contact Shiovaji Park Exchange & sort out the problem immediately.Other wise I will be forced to take action against both the organisations.
