I request for a refund and action against the owner in the light of the issue described below.
I'm a student, seeking an accommodation for a month's span for coming down to Mumbai for my internship during my summer break.
I'm complaining about an owner who has taken refundable advance and is now refusing to refund when we ask for cancelation. This is about Sunil PG, Lower Parel, Mumbai. He had been making rounds of calls to us to push to pay the refundable advance amount since last night (22nd June, 2022). We had shared our contact details on the site to connect with the owner yesterday itself. The owner shared videos of his PG outlet, the amenities and the rooms and promised us that an amount of 2000 rupees should be sent to make the booking confirmed and later if we plan on cancelling, he would return that share of money and if we plan to stay, then it gets adjusted in the total amount being charged as per the website.
I and a friend of mine paid 2000 rupees each to make the booking for a triple occupancy room at Sunil PG, this morning. We were asked to share our Aadhar details and were told that we will receive verification calls. I received the call and was asked questions regarding my stay, my purpose of visiting Mumbai and about my college. Later he made some more calls and asked for more money which is also going to be refundable. When I told him, I don't understand the process and would want my earlier money to be refunded, he denied.
He kept asking us to pay the extra amount of 5000 while we were on the call itself. It is genuinely a fraud and I would like to bring this to your notice as we came to the website for the website's credibility and goodwill. If this is how we are being trapped into frauds and have to turn victims to cyber crime than I am sorry to say but the website is not verifying the agents and properties well.
