Dear Sirs, I made a air travel and hotel reservation through makemytrip on 22nd September 2015. FARE DETAILS Base Amount Rs. 17000 Extras Rs. 0 Sub Total Rs. 17000 Taxes and Service Fee Rs. 2662 Discount - Rs. 2550 GRAND TOTAL Rs. 17112 Due to an unforeseen exigency I had to cancel this booking on the 1st October 2015. Makemytrip made the following deductions as cancellation penalty. Airticket Cancellation: Rs4599/- Hotel room cancellation: Rs17, 112/- The hotel booking amount in its entireity is being withheld on the grounds that it is the hotel's cancellation policy. However when I contacted the hotel they were surprised on this action by Makemytrip. I received the following from the GM Quote Dear Mr. George, I am extremely surprised that Make My Trip has refused to cancel your booking and refund your payment to you. I have spoken to them regarding this and they have told me that you were informed that the amount will take time to credit into your account. Since we have not received any payment towards your booking, I have addressed this with the concerned persons at Make My Trip and you should be hearing from them very shortly. Indigo Airline has confirmed that their cancellation charge is Rs2000/- and that they have asked the travel agency to refund the remaining amount. Make my trip has deducted following amount: Airtickets: Rs.4599/- Hotel: Rs17, 112/- This is unethical behaviour by the travel portal. I trust I will get satisfactory redressal in the above matter and money due to me against this cancellation of booking be refunded. Thank you George Vurgese
