MakeMyTrip.com — cheated by mmt, they ruined our trip that we were so looking forward to

I had specifically told the guy handling our booking that we wanted a luxury holiday with hotels in the city center. When we arrived in Udaipur our hotel was 30 minutes away from the city center in an industrial area with construction going all around the hotel. When we called to complaint they said they will get back to us and i havent heard from then since then. Its been 4 weeks now. This isnt it, we had a confirmed 5 star hotel reservation in jodhpur. The hotel was 120 km away from the city center, so we would have to travel 5 hours round trip to go to the city center, that isnt it, the hotel was on the highway between jodhpur and jailselmer. There is more, when we checked into the hotel it didnt look like a 5 star so i checked with the reception, they confirmed that its a 3 star resort. How can they cheat us like this? I have all the documents with me. I have already written a complaint online but no response yet. We had to rebook all the hotels ourselves and as it was over christmas new year time we had to pay 4 times the price. I need an email id or an contact detail of someone who can take action against mmt and the people involved who have cheated us.

1. My trip was being handled by
Jay Parekh via email and via phone. When we were discussing our trip details I
had specifically and repeatedly told Jay that I want a luxury holiday with only
4 to 5 star hotels and that the hotels have to be in the city center coz
my husband is Swiss and he would like to explore the city in the evenings,
specially restaurants and shopping places. He assure me that everything is
taken care of and if I have any queried during my trip I can call him or anyone
of his supervisors, he gave me 4 numbers.

2. Till the date we made the payment
everything was fine, jay would reply to my emails immediately. As soon as we
made the payment he wouldn’t reply to me as promptly as earlier. I had to send
him 3 emails to get a reply from him. I wanted him to arrange an airport pickup
from the airport, which he refused coz its not possible. Then I called him and
asked him as to why is it so difficult to arrange an airport pickup when I am
ready to pay, he said he will arrange it and that he would send me a
confirmation. I waited for a confirmation till the morning we were to fly but
didn’t receive any. So I called one of his supervisor and he said he will get
back to me, he didn’t. When we landed there was no car waiting for us. When I
checked with the hotel they said they had no information about the airport
pickup.

3. The first hotel was Hotel Le Seasons
Delhi, when we checked in they didn’t have our room so they upgraded us. The
bed sheets had stains, the toilets were dirty, the sink and the tap had dried
water marks all over them. There was a bucket and a mug for showering and the
tap in the bathroom was leaking so the bathroom was full of water. As we were
on for around 5 hours in that hotel we didn’t say anything. The next two hotels
were ok, but again not in the city center so we mostly stayed in the hotel in
the evenings.

4. In Udaipur we were given The Cambay
hotel, this is when things really got worse. The hotel was 30-40 minutes away
from the city center in an industrial area with construction going around the
hotel. While checking in I asked the reception if we could do anything around
here his exact words were ‘ this is an industrial area, you cant do anything
here’. We checked in the room, the bed sheets again had stains, the bathroom
had used soap, the toilet again was dirty, there were no towels in the room,
the curtain rail was broken and the windows were full of dust bcoz of the
construction. We just couldn’t live in that hotel, that would have been a waste
of our trip to Udaipur. I immediately called up the 4 numbers from Jay’s
supervisors, couldn’t get thru anyone, after trying again and again I got
thru Arpit. I explained to him the situation and said that he should organize
another hotel for us, he said he cant take this decision and that I should wait
for 2 hours and he will try his best to find a solution. We didn’t hear again
from him, when I tried to call him back he didn’t answer neither any of the
other numbers Jay had given us. We checked out immediately. This hotel was so
far away from the city center that we had to pay Rs. 900 for a cab for a one
way trip. This was on 23rd December, we started searching for a
hotel on our own. As it was Christmas eve all the hotels were booked,
eventually we had to book in Fateh Prakash Palace and had to pay around Rs.
75, 000 for 3 nights, which we could have gotten it cheaper if it wasn’t a last
minute reservation. The hotel is Mount Abu was also ok, but not what we had
expected.

5. The hotel in Jodhpur is a 5 star
hotel as per the itinerary. The hotel was 110 km away from the city center, so
If we had to go to the city center we would have to travel 5 hours. To add to
this, the hotel was on the highway, and Jay had given us 2 nights in that
hotel, and that’s not it, when we checked in the hotel didn’t look like a 5
star so I checked with the reception, they said it’s a 3 star resort. We were
so mad and felt cheated, how can he do this to us, and what were we suppose to
do in the resort on the highway that too for two days. That hotel is more of a
stop over place for travelers. This really ruined it for us. We didn’t want to
take a chance of the remaining of our trip being ruined. That is when we booked
all the remaining hotels in the itenary by ourselves, and as it was holiday
season and last minute, we had to pay way more than what we would pay if we
would have booked in advance, but we had not choice coz after being cheated so
bad we didn’t know what awaits us.

6. The only place we couldn’t find a
hotel was in Jaisalmer coz it was 30th December so all the hotels
were booked for new years eve, so we were forced to go to the Prince Of Dunes
Camping. Consideration our past hotels experiences we were dreading going there
but we had no choice as we couldn’t find any other hotel. We had booked a
Deluxe Swiss Tent, when we were brought to the room it firstly wasn’t a tent
and secondly was so basic with just one bed and a table, the room was so dull
and there was no proper lighting, the ceiling had a cloth hanging deco thing,
which was torn and it had old water marks on it. We went into the toilet, there
was no hot water( which I had specifically asked Jay to check and he assured us
that it had all the luxury of a hotel), the basin was leaking, the bathroom was
full of water coz the bucket in the bathroom was broken. The drain on the floor
had hair and dirt from the previous guests. We couldn’t stand there for another
minute. We checked out of the hotel, we had no hotel reservation no where to go
but we just couldn’t imagine spending the night in that camp, it was that bad.
Eventually we had to drive 5 hours at night from Jaiselmer to Jodhpur and stay
in that highway resort.

7. This has been my experience dealing
with makemytrip. The whole year we look forward to our holidays, and people
like Jay ruined it for us only because he wants to make money, he doesn’t
realize the trouble and inconvenience he put us thru, not to forget all the
extra money we had to pay. I had filled in the online
complaint form on 23rd December and
I haven’t got any reply or heard from anyone. Surprisingly when I came back to
Zurich and checked the status of the complaint said resolved, and I had neither
heard from anyone nor did I get any msg or email.
