I had booked a holiday package through MakeMyTrip for me and my wife, our return flight(air pegasus) from Bangalore to Kochi on 13/08/2016 was cancelled since air pegasus was ceased from operations. There was no prior information regarding the cancelled flight from the travel agent nor from the airline authorities. I contacted MakeMyTrip and they didn't provide any alternative arrangement and said the ticket amount will be refunded within 30 days. we had no other option but to stay in Bangalore take a bus from Bangalore to Kochi the next day.
I had requested many times for the refund(complain ID IN1606B3S1069586) but MakeMyTrip informed me that the amount is not refunded from the airlines, So they cannot process the refund for me.
Recently I came across an article in quora which was about a similar case, for him he went to the air pegasus office in Bangalore, They showed him the bookings on the Central Reservation System, which he made through MakeMyTrip found that Air Pegasus had fully refunded his ticket cost the very same day, their flight was cancelled
and he informed me that as per DGCA rules the travel agent is responsible for the refund and not the airlines. It is the responsibility of the travel agent to refund the customer and recover the amount from the airlines.
