Makemytrip has a very complicated, inefficient and customer unhealthy policy of managing flight cancellations.
We were due to travel from Srinagar to Delhi on a single stop Air India flight booked with them and the flight from Srinagar to Jammu got cancelled due to fog. We tried our level best to get a confirmation of the same from makemytrip but ended up talking to several poorly informed customer care executives until one of them advised us to cancel our tickets from the app stating 'inoperational flights' as a reason. Since status onthe app also showed the flight as cancelled, we followed the instructions.
Ever since, we have been chasing the flights makemytrip for our refunds - they have refunded us a lousy 600 on bookings that cost us 7000 in the first place and they explained us this saying:
"We regret to inform you that the airline is unable to provide us with the flight/cancellation status (over the phone); hence, we request you to provide us the stamped document with the applicable refund amount mentioned by them.
As the PNR is passed dated the airline will not be providing refund on our claim without the stamp document from the passenger. You can get the document from nearest airline city office or airport counter."
WHILE MAKEMYTRIP INTERACTS WITH AIRLINES ON A FREQUENT BASIS, THEY WANT YOU TO NOW DO THEIR JOB AS THE AIRLINE IS NOT PICKING UP!!! CALL THEM AGAIN OR GO TO THEIR OFFICE - ITS YOUR JOB !!! ITS INSANE TO INCONVENIENCE SOME 100+ CUSTOMERS TO EACH GET A STAMPED DOCUMENT FOR ESTABLISHING SOMETHING THAT IS NOT IN THE GREY ZONE!!
HOW COME YOU CAN UPDATE THE APP WITH FLIGHT STATUS BUT NOW YOU NEED 100 STAMPED DOCUMENTS FROM THE AIRLINES TO PROVE IT!!!
