I have made reservations for 3 nights with makemytrip.com. I booked 2 rooms, one occupying 2 adults and the other 2 adults and 1 child(below 3 yrs).
For second room with booking id - NH[protected], the night charges are almost double when compared with booking id - NH[protected]. This is because I had selected 1 child, which was an honest information I entered which seemed to be required during reservation, which ideally and according to hotel policy should not incur any extra charges. There is a seekbar to select age of your child while making reservations, unfortunately that seekbar input is useless. Whether you select 0 or 12 yrs, it always adds extra amount to your booking.
The hotel has confirmed that child below 6 yrs stays free in their policy and makemytrip(mmt) hotel policy says the same. But mmt does not practice what it states. I have called them multiple times and every representative has it's own take on the problem. Here are some of their different takes and my answers to their understanding.
1) Prices might have changed while making second booking
- I have tried even now, price is same and increases when you add a child with any age. Technical issue on their website which they won't accept.
2) You must have added extra bed for your kid
- Really please show that mentioned in the voucher because I never requested for an extra bed
3) We will get back to you in 24hrs
- This is a myth they practice. Never did I receive any mail or call from them withing 24hrs
4) We will check the hotel's policy and get back
- I have already checked with the hotel and have it in written that stay for kid < 6 yrs is free.
5) We checked your logs during booking and you selected nil for child's age.
- Whether you select 0 1 2...12 it's the same price that gets added. If I select nil, what business login do you run in your backend to add extra prices?
I request you to kindly look into this matter because it's really unfair & ridiculous that my little kid is being charged an amount which is equivalent to booking a separate room for him for 3 nights.
