I, Dr Saurabh Tiwari is doing DNB Orthopedics from Apex hospital Varanasi. I joined on April 28th as JR1. The hospital is hardly following any law of DNB. We are working 18-20 hours of duty daily. We don't get leave here as per hospital norms and DNB rules. No classes and teaching are being conducted. The environment is so bad that I see people getting beaten physically by consultant in Operation theatres. We DNB RESIDENTS are being used as a tool for frustration removal objects as one of our consultant (who is the son of chairman of the hospital) regularly abuse us, threatens us to such a level that doesn't suit medical field. This has been going on daily basis.
One such incident occurred yesterday night (20/11/22 at 2AM). After receiving two emergencies at night around 2 AM, I was called by the same consultant (Dr S.S. Patel) in ICU. As soon as I reached, I saw him in a DRUNKEN STATE. He was shouting on everyone. He started abusing me for no reason. He was so aggressive that He started hitting the table with steel scale. He even tried hitting it on my hand. He threatened me to beat me physically and will cause trouble during my whole DNB course. He even said that he will cancel my medical license. Everyone including me was in shock but not surprised since we have seen this behavior multiple times. I still don't even know why I was subjected to such situation by the consultant who is under the effect of Alcohol. ICU is a place where critical patients are being treated and he literally was shouting at his peak. Attendants of patients were in shock as well.
This isn't the first time. The atmosphere in the hospital is so bad that we don't even know when we will be subjected to such behavior again. Utter chaos and negativity.
This situation is getting worst day by day and now I am thinking of filing for migration of my seat or if not then I may have to leave my DNB. Was this information helpful? |
