Ola Cabs — Peak time surcharge without informing for a non peak hour
I rode an Ola Cab on 5th june, 2015 and was literally taken for a ride (pun intended)!! The distance of the trip as per their invoice was 14.11 kms (although it should have been not more than 12), and i was charged Rs.390 for this distance!! Which is about Rs.28 per kilometre!!! And what do they advertise?? Get a cab for Rs.10 per km!! Now let us look at the details: Base fare for 4 km: ₹80.0 Rate for 10.11 km: ₹101.1 Free ride time (5 min) ₹0.0 Ride time charge for 48 min: ₹48.0 Peak Pricing charge (1.7x) ₹160.42 Service type Bangalore, Cab, Mini Booking Date 05 Jun, 2015, 01:49 pm Pickup Date 05 Jun, 2015, 01:53 pm The journey was undertaken at 1.53pm, a time of the day which no one in their senses would call as 'peak time'. Yet Ola thought it is such a peak time that they have to charge me 1.7 times!!! Also observe how arbitrary and fraudulent this charge is. 1.7 times of X is Rs.160.42. So this X must be Rs.94.36. But nowhere in the other charges do we find an amount of Rs.94 !! So it clearly shows that the peak-time surcharge has no basis, neither with the time of the day nor with the calculation. The worst part is, i was never informed while booking that i would be charged a peak time charge, something which Uber cabs clearly informs. My invoice number is 88691577. I challenge Ola cabs to explain this surcharging to me, or else they can choose to face severe embarrassment on all online forums and also in a consumer court. Was this information helpful?
