[Resolved]  Skoda India — fraud and cheating case by nawab motors - skoda dealer

I wish to draw skoda's senior management's attention to the cheating and fraud case done by nawab motors with me and unsympathetic behaviour shown by skoda's customar care managaer in addressing my grievance. Unfortunately my car (Make skoda rapid, bearing reg. No. Up 16 az 8494, met an accident on 17th of aug. 2017. I registered the claim and sent the vehicle to nawab motors (Authorized skoda dealer and workshop).

The damaged vehicle was delivered at workshop of nawab motors (Authorized skoda dealer) around 20th august 2017 and engineers generated an estimate to share with insurer (With no intimation to us). This was for repair and amount of around 6.5l was the estimate. After some days we were telephonically informed that we need to pay rs. 1 lakh in advance so that the process can be expedite otherwise since there will be delay from insurer's side and parking charges will be levied till approval to repair is received from insurer.in case the vehicle is repaired, no parking charges would be levied. We initially resisted since our policy is zero dep and for cashless, but the continuous calls from nawab motors, forced us to pay advance amount of rs. 1 lakh.

After they received the payment of rs. One lakh from us, i stopped receiving any communication from nawab motors. We were thinking that the repair is in progress and we will get our car back in 3-4 weeks promised time. On completion of 3 weeks, i called up nawab motors to know the delivery date of vehicle as the promised date was nearing, i got a big surprise that the car was not yet even taken inside the workshop to even start working on it. The car was lying parked outside the workshop on road. Next day i rushed to gm of workshop and found the car still lying outside the premise (On the road in front of workshop - do they also own the public road outside the premise and call it as their own parking??)

On my showing dissatisfaction and protest they said the engineers working on the car have left nawab motors and now some one new will be assigned this work. I spoke to gm and conveyed the inconvenience, frustration and disappointment it has caused to us. Almost two months have been wasted without even touching the vehicle properly.

Now after more than two months of initial estimation (23rd aug is date of first estimate they provided to insurer, the additional estimate was generated on 4th nov - more than two months - that too on my personally going there and asking to do it).

Now to my biggest surprise, the supplementary estimate of another around rs. 6.5 lakhs was raised which made the total cost of repair way beyond the insurer's limit for giving approval. Again no communication was made to me and only on my repeated requests and calling them, these estimates were shared with me. This means there was an intentional effort to keep me completely uninformed. There was no additional opening /dismantling of vehicle done to generate the supplementary estimate, the car was just lifted on jack and the condition of engine was evaluated and gear box was assessed by starting the ignition of engine (This they should have done in the first place while generating the initial estimate - why they did not do it is beyond understanding)

It was even then not communicated to me that insurer has denied the approval for repair of the vehicle and has informed it will be considered total damaged vehicle since the cost of repair is too high.

In fact in between i even asked for paying back my advance money since all approvals from insurer were received for going cash-less repair, but nobody from nawab motors responded to my requests.

On 28th nov. 2017, my husband (Dr. Gaurav sharma) went to pick the vehicle, (Even though no communication was still made to us, but fearing that the vehicle is unnecessarily lying there and it may not be worth repair), nawab motors raised a bill of rs. 76700/- (Out of which 59000/- was for parking charges) before they handed the vehicle to my husband.

From above, it is very clear that this was a case of cheating done by nawab motors with us and i have full reason to believe that nawab motors knew about the defect from day when they first inspected the vehicle but kept it under cover to charge parking amount from me. This is more evident from the fact that they never informed me of anything even after my repeated calls to them. Had they informed this to me or insurer, a clear decision should have taken and no parking charges would have levied on us.

Unfortunately despite informing all this to skoda's customer care manager (Mr. Sooraj - available on[protected], no action from skoda's side is taken on my complaint. When i asked the manager to connect me to some higher authority/ perosn in skoda he has refused to connect me to anyone and committed that he will call me back same day after talking to their area manager but despite the promise, no body has called me or resolved my grievance so far.

I again request someone in senior management in skoda to please look at it personally and see how badly your dealers are dealing with skoda's reputation and cheating your customers (We did not buy a nawab motor's car, what we went for was skoda's car) and arrange to refund the entire parking amount nawab motor's has charged from us.

Please note my contact no.- +91 [protected] (although shared with your customer care manager many times, still sharing again), Dealership - Nawab Motors, NOIDA (probably you are more equipped to find the details of dealership with this much information than me- just in case you seriously want to take care of the complaint and help a genuine customer). Hoping against the hope that SKODA will do something about it and save its customers from getting looted in the hands for its dealers!!
