State Bank of India, Brahampuri, Meerut Branch — SBI mishandled my cheque 3 months back and not feeling guilty and neither having the sense of responsibility.

I had deposited my HSBC cheque in SBI Brahampuri, Meerut branch on March 29, 2014. When it was not cleared even after 3 weeks, I checked with the branch. Branch Manager told me the cheque was deposited but the other Bank is not releasing the payment. I trusted them and started correspondence with the other bank. The other bank told me that there was no request made by SBI for the payment of cheque. Upon checking again after 2 weeks, I was told by a Branch Employee (Mr. Subhash) that there was a mistake by SBI and the cheque was wrongly sent to some other branch in Mumbai. They have told me that they will ask branch to bring back the cheque it will be deposited in the correct branch within a week. I met him after 2 weeks of this incidence. That time again i was told the same story that branch still needs to find my cheque. Later, I met with branch manager and wrote him a letter to look into this issue on urgent basis. Branch manager was also not looking serious about this issue and he did not handled our complaint seriously.


After that i kept on trying reaching to the branch, most of the time nobody picks the phone or whenever they picked, i got the same answer that my cheque still needs to be find out. Even i was told that "Madam, you know it is a govt bank and how the working goes on in govt banks."


Now I am feeling helpless, as it was a substantial amount for me and I am not getting any ray of hope further.


The cheque validity is also going to expire on Jun 14, 2014.


I would request you to help me in this matter in getting justice.
