I am a senior citizen nearing 80.
A cyber crime/unauthorized transaction on my ac no. [protected], SBI S V Nagar branch Tirupati, branch code 16990, has been committed on 2.8.21.
I made a complaint to the Banking Ombudsman vide No.[protected] dt.4.8.21 and another complaint to the cyber crime police vide FIR 536/21 Dt.3.8.21.
I submit that three chargebacks were created by the bank vide nos.61541782, 61542792 and 61542977 for a total amount of Rs 24900/- and the same was informed to me on 9.8.21 and also on 10.8.21 by the bank, fixing a period of 35 days for resolution. The deadline is over long back and nothing was made known to me.
Consequent on the creation of chargebacks by the bank, the Ombudsman has closed my complaint.
The police are also investigating the case but I was told that the Bank is not cooperating with them in supplying the information required by them.
I am not aware of the present position of the case and the chargebacks issue. As a matter of fact, I do not know what does a ‘chargeback’ actually mean. I am not kept informed of any developments in the matter.
The Banking Ombudsman while informing me about the chargebacks, indicated that I am free to take any legal action for redressal of my grievance if I wish.
I desired the branch to inform me the present position of the matter vide my mail Dt. 21.9.21 and also made a request to the AGM on 27.9.21 to direct the branch to inform the present position nothing has been done by them. The branch has not been pleased to apprise me of the position.
I made a representation to the Chairman SBI on 11.10.21 and on his direction the branch took a detailed statement from me on 17.10.21 and stated that the issue would be referred to a committee for a resolution but even though two months have elapsed nothing has been done.
