Respected Sir/Madam,
I would like to formally bring to your notice a serious issue we faced regarding Metro Water supply at our residence.
Around three months ago, we raised a complaint with the Corporation regarding non-availability of Metro Water. Despite repeated follow-ups, no corrective action was taken, and we were left without water for more than three months.
After several escalations, two individuals identifying themselves as Corporation heads — Mr. Selvam and Mr. Radhakrishnan — visited our premises along with labourers. They informed us that the issue was due to a problem in the main pipeline and asked us to purchase all pipes and required linkages, which we did at our own expense.
After completing the work without any prior intimation of cost, we were suddenly asked to pay ₹4, 500. This demand was shocking, especially since:
The issue originated due to improper or incomplete earlier work
We had already suffered without water for over three months
No official estimate, receipt, or approval was shared in advance
Following verbal pressure and distress, we managed to pay ₹1, 000, which was beyond our financial capacity, as we are currently struggling to meet basic household expenses.
We respectfully request the Corporation to:
Take note of this incident seriously
Ensure such unauthorised monetary demands do not recur
Provide clarity on official procedures and charges, if any, for such work
We trust the authorities will take appropriate steps to prevent similar hardship to other residents.
Thanking you,
Yours sincerely,
Saran S
