Tamil Nadu Electricity Board [TNEB] — Excess Billing without Explanation

Billing amount for the month of July came as 8446/- for the first time of being 16 years in Tamil Nadu. We get around 2500/- or 3500/- generally. There are 2 people at home and none o[censored]s use anything that will make the bill this high. We are getting no explanation whatsoever how the bill came to this amount.

I submitted a grievance on TANGEDCO portal and gave a letter in person to the Assistant Engineer in the EB office to check the EB Meter. The officials came and checked the meter and said the meter had no issues but they had no idea how the bill was this high when we didn't even consume these many units.

If the EB itself is unable to explain how it came, as a consumer what are we supposed to do? Pay the massive bill like dumb people without getting any explanation? I request immediate help for the same.
