TNEB(TANGEDCO) have issued a notification via media to the consumers of Electricity, enabling them to access to the Meter, get the readings, calculate the charges and pay the bill online with the photo of the meter and the readings shown.This is not a welcome move by TNEB.This will cause hardships to the consumers.First of all, a consumer may not know how to take the readings if in case of a digital meter and calculate the charges and to comply with other procedures laid down.This will lead to unnecessary complications.The best way is the existing procedure, that is by the authorised assessors of TNEB.The assessors should complete the assessment within the stipulated time, as usual.Also, payment of the bills should be extended considerably, keeping in view of the corona crisis.It may need Three months grace time to pay the bill for May, 21, if the killer virus intensifies itself further.
