Telangana Southern Power Distribution Company [TSSPDCL] — Abrupt disconnection of power supply | |||
In the past 54 months of my stay in Hyderabad I have been paying the electricity bill well on time as past payment records will show. However, TSSPDCL does not appear to have any ECS facility or even a timely SMS reminder system and therefore, on a few occasions I have missed paying the power bill - online, as I usually pay - within due date. This has probably happened 3-4 times. On each instance, TSSPDCL have deputed someone - probably a lineman or a meter reader - to my premises and have simply disconnected power by switching off the mains from the meter area. On each occasion our caretaker has come to our floor to inform us of this action and - this is the SHOCKING part - every such instance has been WITHIN 3-7 DAYS OF THE DUE DATE OF PAYMENT OF BILL. I am not aware if this happens in any state and whether it is legal to disconnect the power without any warning. I feel this is malpractice and abuse of power and should be seriously looked into. I would like know if any intimations to be made before disconnection of electricity for any due connections if not it would be an illegal act I guess. Such complaints are increasing day by day and ERC to look into this matter very seriously to provide guide lines to customers on payment date and fine criteria/disconnection criteria. No where in INdia such un intimated disconnections happen and this can be ternmed as rowdy act indeed.

Its 6 days past due date and I have been asked to pay bill in cash when they visited home. When I said I will do it online as I do not have 2500 cash due to cash shortage, they disconnected and left. I told them I will pay online and have never defaulted, they still did it to us. They said they have to meet their monthly targets. I have paid the amount online immediately and hope to see them show mercy on a small family with kids during this hot summer. But this cruelty.

It happens in my house today feeling bad of the process/ services we have today. Electricity was disconnected within a short notice of 30 mins as the bill was due for 10 days. Too rude of people and they think of hero's by getting it disconnected. Tsspdcl can levy penalty if not paid with in due date instead of disconnection. Hope this gets answered soon
