Volkswagen India — Escalation: Repeated Coolant & EGR Failure VW Passat (India)

Dear Volkswagen Customer Care Team,

I am writing to formally escalate a long-standing and unresolved issue with my Volkswagen Passat 2.0 TDI (VIN: WVWE183C7JA000595), registered(KA02MP2066) in India.

Since November 2023, I have been repeatedly facing coolant-related issues, primarily “coolant level low” warnings. Despite multiple visits and repairs carried out strictly at authorized Volkswagen service centers, the issue still remains unresolved.

Over this period, I have spent over INR 4, 00, 000 on repairs related to this problem. Despite this, I am still dealing with the same recurring issue.

Currently, my vehicle is at the Volkswagen authorized service center in Hosur, India. The service team has now advised replacing the complete EGR system again and performing a full fuel system cleaning/flush, citing “contaminated fuel” as the root cause.

I am not convinced with this diagnosis for the following reasons:

I travel frequently and do not rely on a single fuel station, making consistent fuel contamination unlikely
The EGR system has already been replaced earlier, yet the issue has recurred
I have faced this coolant issue multiple times over the past two years
There is no clear assurance that this proposed repair will permanently resolve the issue
While I appreciate that the Hosur service team has offered to bear 35% of the repair cost, I am concerned that this again appears to be a trial-and-error approach rather than a confirmed root cause fix.

I have also discussed this matter with the GM – Service (Mr. Jayaprakash), but I am still left without a clear and reliable resolution.

I purchased a Volkswagen vehicle expecting reliability, engineering excellence, and peace of mind. Unfortunately, my experience has been the opposite, involving repeated breakdowns, significant financial burden, and loss of time.

At this stage, I request Volkswagen’s direct intervention to:

Clearly identify the root cause of the issue
Confirm whether this issue can be permanently resolved
Provide written assurance on the effectiveness of the proposed repair
Bear the cost of repair, considering the repeated failures and the significant expenses I have already incurred
I would sincerely appreciate a clear and definitive response on how Volkswagen intends to resolve this issue permanently.
